I thought it's the other way around. Prototypes are designed with the best material, the best wheels to get your interests, your attention. then in the production models they get scaled down, cheapen to fit the price points isn't it?
Nope. I always find that pre-production model have lower graded interior. We will spot a better graded interior in the next couple of months.
I'm so disappointed in this car. I like 20% of what is new but the other 80% is just terrible. I really want to stick with Lexus, but the Audi A5 is starting to look more appealing. I'll reserve my judgement the day I see one and drive one in person.

lol at the comments in this thread. Just wait till the actual production version comes out and check it out for yourselfs. .... Interior design looks great to me
This > 2IS interior IMO. So much better
yeah, that plastic under the wheel will certainly change... now centre console probably not. They do some minor changes from pre-production to final all the time.

"this" is also a highly touched up pic or it was taken on another planet where the atmosphere just happens to have the same color scheme as the interior.
Gotta see it in person guys. You can't judge material quality unless you sit in the car and experience it for yourselves.
I agree but someone posted he here saw and I believe sat in the IS exterior looks great but wasn't impressed with the new IS interior. He said it looked a bit cheap.
Not sure if just the photo, but dat cheap plastic:
It's a pre-production prototype. This is not a 100% finished model. The actual piece is a textured plastic. The whole car is close to what will be used in production.
Based solely on pictures, that center stack just looks cheap and choppy to me. Doesn't seem to flow nicely. It is like they had misc. parts and just threw it all together. Hopefully it will look better in person. If not, then it will be a GS F-Sport for me.
The new IS instrument panel is a departure from the 2nd Gen IS. For most of the guys out there that are used to seeing the 2nd Gen IS dash, it will be a departure for you all. If any of you have owned the 1st Gen IS and seen the LFA's dash design...you can see where some of the curves and shapes originated from. It really looks good in person. Don't let the photos fool you.
