I will agree the IS interior looks like its in steps until I see it in person.

That's an 08. Here's the facelift one. I do agree with you that the A5 is not as sharp/stunning/stand out/edgy compared to the new IS, but I think it's a bit too all of what I said for my taste. I don't like bland cars either.
I guess turning 40 recently has made me a bland person.
I do like this side shot of the new IS compared to the A4. Lexus needs to do something with that rear diffuser and create a better Fsport bumper.

I think it looks great on the outside (reserving judgement on the interior for now).
It's THE boldest design out of any of its direct competitors and definitely has its own distinctive edge to it. Now it will be interesting how this translates to total sales.
The red one is an AWD on stock rims, so of course it looks like it's on stilts. Compare to an '06 AWD:
But look at how aggressive those fender bulges on the 3IS are compared to that A5. Just wait til we see some of these (especially the F sport) with a good drop and bigger rims that sit FLUSH to those meaty fenders THEN we can talk. I definitely think there's great potential here once people starts messing with it. And I am looking forward to see what Lexus does with the F version. (But not too soon though because I don't want my car looking old yet! )
