Mark Levinson in 2014 IS
So previous generation IS with Mark Levinson had 14 speakers.
After looking at all the photos of the 2014 IS clearly marked with ML logo I see 2 speakers on the dash in each corner, 1 speaker grill in each front door near bottom, I see 2 speakers in each rear door that is a total of 8 speakers. If there are 2 speakers in the rear deck (assuming) that is 10. Still short 4 more speakers.
Something is not adding up.

they count the small tweeters as speakers, this is for the GS, but you get the point.
the speaker pair that is one big speaker and one small speaker, look like just 1 speaker when you count from inside, but it's actually 2.

If this is the case, then it looks like the new IS will only have 1 speaker on the front drivers door (in all the pics it's seen as the large speaker grill towards bottom of door.
My gripe with this is that it appears there is now a dead space of plastic (triangular) where on the previous gen IS would be the tweeter speaker grill nestled in that space. It just makes for a much classier look when you opt for a premium sound system like the ML and then there is no tweeter speaker and your left looking at a dead space of plastic in that area, makes it feel less luxury. Yeah maybe there will be more speakers than before but why take away those door tweeter speakers and leave that space with nothing.

Requests for options should always be possible.

nobody knows until Lexus USA sends out their option sheets... from production point, it is possible as you can get fully loaded IS F-Sport in Europe with everything.
