i am pretty sure 80-120kmh and in general, IS300h will be faster in mid range acceleration, just not from start and at high speeds. It is faster than 320i and IS250 is nowhere as close.
I was really disappointed when i slammed gas at around 40-50kmh and nothing happened in GS250... this is not going to be the same in IS300h, as Natnut said

Took a longer tesdrive with the IS 300h equipped with the luxury line package . I also took a testdrive with an used IS 250 as they didnt have the new IS250. Just to compare the engine response and performance after all inputs here. I think this comparison is fair because the engine and transmission is equal to the new 250. Then I went to the BMW dealer and 320d with 184 hp.
Yes, the response from the CVT is not as "aggresive" as the auto gearbox in IS 250 or BMW for that matter . On the other hand, the autogearbox in 250 felt really old fashioned. The time between kickdown and when IS 250 starts to accelerate is almost as slow as the IS 300h. The only time IS 250 responds well is when you drive it in sportmode and have the revs about 4500 rpm or over ( adjusted with the paddles ) and then kickdown. Then the power kicks in more distinctive than in the CVT car . Under 4000 rpm the nav screen showed " Error 404- engine can`t be found" The BMW 320d reminds of the IS 300h , the low end torque is fantastic and the 8 speed gearbox plays in a different league than the IS 250. An 101% perfect match with the car and 2.0d engine.
So how about performance ? Well, 320d is the overall winner here. But the IS 300h is very close or even faster in some intervals, for example between 50-150 km/h. As for the IS 250 it may be faster 0-100 km/h than IS 300h , but doesn´t stand a chance on overtaking intervals even if you drive it like you stole it. And who wants to drive like that on a every day basis ? I do understand that people will consider the IS 250 much faster based on the sound and lack of feeling in the CVT gearbox. The sound actually makes a huge difference . The 320d sounds like crap but it literally kills IS 250 in evey aspect of perfomance. The IS 250 "feels" much sportier , but my experince is all based on the speedometer, not brochoures.
As for the chassi and driving experience the BMW still winns in my opinion. Both the new and old IS are very fun to drive , but if I really wanted to drive the **** out of a car I would buy BMW, but of course not the 320d.

Lexus Test Driver
Do you have anything nice to say? your always roaming around on these forums criticising every vehicle lexus makes. go buy your damn BMW and Mercs if it bothers you. And as a fact the GS250 is faster than the E220 cdi, E200 cdi and close to the brand new E250. All of these models are turbocharged. Lexus uses a naturally aspirated engine and id prefer having a GS250 than a turbocharged 4 cylinder. The performance is totally adequate.

IS300h best of all worlds, hows IS300h compared to both when you gun it in mid speed acceleration? I expect it to be good simply because you have electric turbo giving you instant 42hp .
When it comes to F30, i was really disappointed by interior... nothing special at all, in fact, opposite of that. You really have to dress it up to max to get similar feeling to mid spec IS300h. The mid spec version of 320d 8AT didnt feel like a luxury car at all. Another negative on 320d, arguably the best diesel on the market, is that it needs to become EuroVI in 6 months, and it means stronger DPF and urea solution. It will lose a bit of everything (power, reliability, speed) and gain more running costs.
Did the luxury have AVS or?

As for the F30 I totally agree. I do not like that interior in any way. The biggest surprise is that it felt so cramped and cheap compared to the new IS. The F30 standard seats doesn´t stand a chance either. Maybe the sound of the diesel makes the overall feeling even worse. But then again, its a really good car when it comes to drivning, nobody can deny that.
This IS 300h had the standard chassi with 17 inch wheels.
