Default Crazy Drivers Floor Question

Up here in the Pacific Northwest, our dealers only carry the AWD models. These models have a pretty big bump protruding out from the center console just below the drivers right knee. If you move your leg just right you will hit this bump and since the dealers up here do not carry the rear wheel drive models, I cannot compare to see if that bump is something related to the all-wheel-drive system.

Can anyone tell me if a rear wheel drive model has this bump? It is located on the center console just up from the gas pedal on the AWD models.

The bump is part of the AWD. It has always been a part of an IS with AWD. The RWD models do not have it. I am sure your dealer could special order a RWD model for you.
The bump also appears in other brands AWD models as well.

Yeah I can attest that the bump does not bother me in my 4GS...

Thanks for the fast replies. I didn't realize so many people were already aware of this. I am sure that our dealers up here would be able to order one in real wheel drive, or like others have said I probably would get used to it very quickly in an all-wheel-drive model. It's good to know that at least it is an option.

One thing to think about ordering the RWD where the RWD is not common is resale. I was going to order a RWD, as I don't need AWD but someone made that point to me and its a good one.

Here you go... 2014 IS250 AWD hump...

Caused by the front drive shaft that exits from the left side of the transmission..

It looks big but if its anything like the GS you don't notice it when you're sitting in the drivers seat. The passenger would notice it more because they don't have anywhere specific they need to put their feet.

Thanks, Joe Z. I think the bump is bigger in the IS than in the GS (probably because the GS is a bigger car and has more width to the console). Under normal driving the bump sits just below my leg, but if I moved my leg at all the bottom of my leg would rub up against the hump. It's good to know the RWD does not have this hump, and maybe that is why most of the press cars and picture cars are RWD.
