Price Paid for an IS250/350?
#196
I bought the 2014 IS350 F-Sport in San Jose, Ca.
Type of Purchase: Financed - 10K down
Color: Ultra White Exterior - all black inside
Upgrades: Navigation (no ML premium sound), Cargo net, Trunk Mat, W-Lock, Rear Applique. I went with BSM, as opposed to VGRS
Price Paid: MSRP was upper 47K, and the deal I worked out that i ended up buying the car for was in the upper 42K. I am not including tax/license.
Note: Truecar helped out a lot. I leveraged Truecar's quote, and I talked them down ~2K from the truecar quote = ~42K.

Also how the heck did you get $5k off! That sounds like a great deal!

It's my favorite combination and I wouldn't go back. It's my second black Lexus, and it takes a lot of work to maintain (see carwash thread). I also think the black interior goes best with the black headliner in the F-Sport.

Yeah, I got mine from Steven's Creek. The Truecar quote was from Magnussan, but my wife and I didn't want to drive to Fremont, since we live about 10 minutes away from Stevens Creek, so we leveraged that quote from Truecar at Stevens Creek.

What I don't understand is why any dealer would sell below their cost? Your $5k discount is about ~$1.5k below invoice. Are the published invoice bogus?

I wasn't saying you weren't telling the truth! I'm wondering if car companies are getting smart about the invoice pricing and publishing what they want to sell the car for? I've heard several people on this forum getting ~$5k off which I think is great price.

Let's say a dealership get 10k bonus for selling 100 cars. If they are 1 car short of reaching the 10k bonus, they can sell the last car for a few bucks less to get the 10k bonus.
When I bought my car, my sales guys told me they were 3 cars short of reaching their goal. So I was only able to get $500 below invoice as they weren't sure they were going to reach the target.

Dealer "invoice" is a fake number nowadays. With all of the internet research and info available car makers have gradually shifted the invoice higher and higher to hide the real numbers. Dealer holdback and other incentives mask the accurate and actual invoice by a large amount. 20 years ago invoice was 15-20% below MSRP.
