I'm happy to provide anyone with feedback on lease deal evaluation---I have a good deal of experience with the numbers end of the equation but need your help to do so. In order to make these things useful for everyone who reads this thread, it would be helpful to have the following information on your deal. By standardizing the reporting process, hopefully the overall quality of info available here can be improved for those thinking of leasing.

The asterisks are items that absolutely must be known to compute valid numbers. If net capitalized cost isn't known, and you know the other numbers we can likely get you a good number. The more information the better.

I've been emailing a few dealerships in so cal and getting a pretty good idea of the price range I can expect otd for an is200t f sport. I would like to trade in my current 08 is250 when buying the new is200t. Should I get them to agree on a price and then bring up the trade in? So if I don't like the trade in offer, I can just walk away even though we agreed on a price for the new car?

As long as you don't sign anything, you can walk away at anytime. If they give a good deal, they will lowball your trade in for sure. So it depend on how your negotiate. Cash is king

Definitely possible. Got my car for almost $1,700 OTD below MSRP.

Eventually got the Is250 F-sport for a way better price at $31k at 22k, so I'm not complaining. Got mine in the color I preferred out of all

Does anyone know if the current lease promo Lexus has for the 2016 IS350 is even "legit?" Meaning, could the lease truly end up costing $409/month for 36 months? I noticed the special mentions it doesn't include dealership fees, taxes, etc. But does anyone know how far off or how much more it could possible be? I know tax is different state to state - but just curious if this is a bait and switch kind of thing. Here's the current special.

The advertisement is definitely "legit" but it's missing some key components. In a way, you answered your own question. The final monthly payment assuming you took this offer wouldn't actually be $409 per month because of the lack of included taxes, fees, and dealer charges. Be careful also of placing the $2,599 down payment on a lease. Most people would advise that you didn't do that since you'd be out the money if you totaled the car during the lease term. They used that amount to make the teaser price more attractive, but you'd be better served keeping those funds in your bank account (granted you'd be paying a higher monthly rate), or if you were to pay them anyway, ask that they be placed as security deposits so that you'd get the money back at the end of the lease. As structured, they are being used to reduce the net capitalized cost which is also conveniently missing from the dealer's advertisement.

Interesting.. and good to know. So far I've gotten a lease quote of the following - It has to be missing something. I asked twice if this is the "true" cost including all fees and taxes, registration and asked if theres anything else missing from the quote, yet they insist it's the true offer and nothing else is missing. Which I find odd since the PDF they gave me seems to be missing somethings.

There's definitely something else being added in. Using your numbers outlined above and tax rate, I'm getting a base payment of $407.32, plus $34.62 in tax for a total of $441.94. See if you can get them to provide you with the net capitalized cost. They should be able to do this pretty easily if they've provided the other information. We'll be able to figure out from that what exactly they're adding or changing.
