I NEVER opt for any of those options. I work for a major manufacturer's finance company. That's what the companies (and especially dealers) have the largest profit margins on. If it's the extended warranty from Lexus/Toyota, then it's at least the better one. DO NOT buy some crap third party ext warranty and never get any of the VIN etching, non-factory alarm, "super wax job" or anything that isn't directly provided from the manufacturer. It's just the dealer trying to gain a big profit off you since they didn't get much from the car itself. Almost as much of a rip-off as the dealers marking up vehicle prices and also marking up the finance company's rate (yes, dealers do that a lot). LFS/TFS approves you for 2.9%, dealer tacks on 60bps and your rate ends up being 3.5% and you never even know it. Not all do this, but many do. So always be mindful of what rates you get. They can not mark up the promotional rates since those are subsidized by the manufacturer anyway.

Default IS200T Base Model $33,102

I received a promotion for a base model IS200T in SOCAL for $33,102 incl destination, plus tax, title, fees. Does that seem like a fair offer?

I think you did real good. I'm fighting for a similarly equipped car $45.3k zero down 36/12@ $390 per month plus tax. Less miles and no wear tear plan which I don't need ha.

Can someone evaluate this deal the dealer gave me? For a Lexus IS 200T F Sport

Term : 36
Base Payment : 423.15 Before tax
Total Payment : 461.24 After Tax based on Los Angeles County Sales tax
Purchase Option 26,788.80 *Residual
MSRP 44,648.00
Est. Miles Per Year 15,000
Disposition Fee : 350.00
Excess Mileage Charge 0.25
Amount Due at Signing
1st Month Payment 461.24
Fees & Insurance 480.75
Upfront Taxes 160.01
Total Inception Fees 1,102.00
Rebate as Cap Reduction 1,697.98 *College Grade $1000 and Lexus Rebate of $1800*
Total Drive Off 2,799.98
How Inception Fees are Paid
Rebate as Drive Off 1,102.02
Total Credits 1,102.02
Remaining Due (Still Owed) 0
Total Cash Required on Delivery $0

He said the selling price used was $40,399 and I am assuming the money factor is 0.00110. Residual is 60%.

I am aiming to get 15% off the MSRP, so I am aiming for a price of below 38,000.

My overall goal for a monthly payment is around 350.

^^ stick to your goal. 461 is way too high.

from what you see based on the money factor and residual, do I just need to focus on negotiating the price of the car?

Alright, here is the final verdict.

I ended up getting the 2016 Lexus IS350 Fsport RWD (UW with RR interior).
-Navi with ML
-Blind Spot Monitor
-Pre-collision system and Dynamic radar cruise control
-Rear spoiler
-Illuminated Door Sills

MSRP of $49,534

They were offering $2000 rebate if I finance with a 3rd party (most likely 2.5% - 3% interest rate), or a $500 rebate if I finance through Lexus (0.9% 60mo or 1.9% 72mo). I'm also a recent grad, so I get the $1000 rebate, but this couldn't be combined with the $2K rebate. I decided to finance through Lexus @ 0.9% and get my $1500 rebate ($500 rebate through Lexus & $1000 for recent grad), this would save me more $$ in the long run (lose $500 in the short term, and save ~$1300+ in interest charges over 60mo).

Anyhow, I did tons of research before buying the car and every dealership was within a few hundred dollars of each other. I did find a dealership ~2hrs away where they were offering the same car for ~$200 less, but I decided to buy from the dealership close to me for convenience.

They offered the car for $44,600 and with my rebates, it came to $43,100. After taxes (CA - 9.5%), the final out the door price was $47,855. Btw, I didn't have a trade in, and I purchased the Lexus (not leased).

Am I kinda bummed about missing out on the few hundred $$ that I could have saved... yes. But is the car still well worth it... after a day or so of driving it... H*LL YES

Overall, this was the best car buying experience I've had.... the dealership was very straight forward and gave a 'fair' price right from the get-go. And I declined ALL of the extra warranties they offer. I am beyond happy with this car

Let me know what you think about the deal. And feel free to ask me any questions.

You not only did your homework but understood it all. Don't sweat the last few hundred dollars, there is a difference between being aggressive and being a jerk in negotiations. IMHO leaving just a bit of meat on the bone for a local deal is better in the long run.

Did you run the numbers lease vs buy? And then consider investing the difference in payments? Lexus has aggressive lease rates, cash back, and residuals right now. Not criticizing, you already show an understanding of the deal far greater than most!

I was very certain that I wanted to purchase the car, I kept my last car for ~8 years, and the IS350 is much better than my last, I don't see myself getting sick of the car in that time frame.

The dealer did give me their speech about leasing. I didn't consider it for 2 reasons:

1) I know I'm going to keep the car for a while
2) I simply didn't do my homework on lease negotiations (because of #1)

But judging from the way my experience went with this dealership, I'm sure they would have provided a fair deal with leasing as well.

Default Please rate Lease quote

Hi everyone,

So i'm looking to get into an IS350 F Sport. Don't need any bells and whistles. Looking for the lowest possible monthly payments.. I will be driving it mainly on weekends so I believe 7500 miles is fine.

36 month lease.
479/Month
1622 OOP
7500 miles per year.

Residual - 31899

MSRP seems really high at that price. If anyone could shine some light on the MSRP I should be targeting that be great. and also MF%

Thanks!
