4500 of the 6213 is refunded @ the end of the lease. That's why its a security deposit, which lowers the money factor (interest rate). Drive off fees essentially is 1713 which included license fees/acq/doc fees.

Use of MSDs is a no-brainer if you can spare 4500 for 3 years (which in turn is like an 16-18% savings in payment over the 3 year term which is better than any bank/CD/mutual fund can probably give you over 3 years).

He put in MSDs, not down (well, he did give 1.7K for first month and taxes/fees). He'll get the 4500 back at the end of the lease.

Read up on MSDs and save the indignation.

Yes, the low MF was a giveaway on the use of MSDs.

It's all good. Not that many people know about MSD's, and the benefits. Up until last month neither did I. That's what these forums are for. Thanks unixadm!!

A lot of people think the MSD's are for people with bad credit, but it can be used by anyone to lower the MF. My credit score is well above the Lexus Tier 1 Plus minimum and I still used it. Like alexlude said, it's much better than any bank/CD/mutual fund can probably give you.

The salesman I bought the car from actually thanked me for teaching him about the MSD's and said he would do that on his next lease.

Some of you might think the following, because I know how opinionated this forum can be. Well the salesman must be a dumb dumb?! I didn't look at it that way. His job is to know the product, and he did. More so than myself which is the way it should be. He used his resource, finance, to get details on the MSD so that he could present an educated offer.

No we didn't lower the selling price, we just simply showed interest and worked out a deal that worked for both the dealership and my family. I have no reason to lie about the price I'm paying a month. I did't post it to brag, I posted it to show people what they can get with a lease.

Also, I sent my friend to the same dealership I went to and he got the same deal just by saying my deal. Might I also mention total negotiating time was less than 10 minutes.

If you're still doubting the fact that I have gotten this deal then I guess there's nothing I can do for you to believe me.

After the whole Putnam Fiasco, I went back to Stevens Creek where I actually started off my search for a 3IS. At the time (about 2 months ago), they didn't have the car and wasn't sure when they were getting more.

Yesterday I put a deposit on an Ultra White / Rioja Red / Mark Lev / BSM / Fsport pkg. They were actually able to beat my Putnam price overall because of the incentive they're having (waiving first month's payment as incentive rebate). They found me a car allocated to them that is coming to port on 11/20 in Long beach. Should arrive 1-2 weeks after that just in time for Thanksgiving

After coming back to the salesman who took me for initial test drive, I explained the Putnam Fiasco to him and his Sales Manager. They were shocked as well to hear what happened, and really wanted to do what they could to get me a car. Also, they don't even put on the front plate until the customer requests! They were able to beat Putnam's pricing overall and I was happy to be working with him again. Not sure they would have done this price without me telling them my Putnam fallout story. IMO, this deal is not something they would give out on the daily - it took a little bit of negotiating but my Putnam fiasco definitely helped.

Before getting this deal, I called Serramonte, Pleasanton, Roseville, Magnussen and none of them barely budged on the selling price. Best I got @ these were $500 below invoice.

MSRP = $48,148
Selling price = $43,770 ($1500 off invoice vs. $1700 Putnam)
Drive off (out of pocket) = $1221 (Acq//Lic/Doc fees)
Security Deposit (MSD) = $4050 (9 x payment rounded to nearest quarter, $450)
Total D.O. = $5271
MF = .00038
36 mo/12k

35 payments of $425.08/mo (first month's payment waived)

Rony Parada - Longo Lexus. Please read my previous posts. If you don't want to believe it, then don't. I'm just keeping people informed.
It is extremely easy to negotiate prices with dealers in socal - just tell them you'll go to another dealership if they can't beat the estimate you got from elsewhere. Rinse repeat until price target.

I know man, some people on this forum list didn't believe my price either. What are you paying on yours?

If you post your details similar to how I posted my deal and some others, then you won't have a problem with people believing you.

Just sayin.

What area are you in? If there are multiple dealers, try to get them to drop it more.

There is only 1 here in town and the next one is about 4 hours away. We tried both and the out of town one was 200. less but we would burn that in gas getting there and back.

My Price: $41,471.00 (with college grad rebate)
OTD: 44,731

This includes cargo net and trunk mat, wheel locks, tints, and all weather mats. I'm in NY and looking at an early December delivery date. What do you guys think of this deal?
I was looking at truecar for prices other people were paying and stumbled upon a quote for 40,730 at lexus of engelwood in NJ. Immediately went to the dealership that has my deposit and asked them to match that price. After about an hour i got them down to 40,850.

So my new deal is:

MSRP: 45,083
My price 40,850 - College Grad Rebate ($1000) = 39,850
OTD: 43,200

Saved about $1,500 and got the car for less that 40k which makes me very happy, looking forward to picking it up in about a week or 2.
