Motortrend just did a comparo with the Lexis IS 350, 335i xdrive, S4, ATS and Volvo. Results are predictable.....

I won't spoil the results for anyone who wants to find out, but yes, no surprises for this AWD shoot-out.

Performance aside, I agree that the extra lump protruding too much in the driver's footwell area. When I sat in an 3IS in the showroom the other day, two other potential customers join me sitting in the interior. The first reaction was all about the tightness in the footwell area because the floor model was an AWD model of IS.

In all fairness, the lump is slightly less protruding than the outgoing model due to some tweak of the shape.

They should have tested the F-sport AWD, but I honestly do not believe it would have had an influence in the order of the results.

3rd Place: Lexus IS 350
A solid value and welcome refresh. ]We'd love to see an F Sport with AWD, but Lexus doesn't build it. Also, the front of this car is too homely for it to place any higher.
Ummm, what? Last time I checked there IS an AWD 350 F-Sport.

Of course it would. F-Sport comes with Adaptive suspension that would have improved ride and handling immensely. And it would still be cheaper than the 335i.

Which has the adaptive suspension, and maybe would have put it higher in the handling department. That being said, the forced induction engines just beat the snot out of the ATS and IS. Until they can come up with more torque, BMW and Audi will walk all over them. Fortunately, the IS350 is priced closer to the 328i.

Not only AVS, but better brakes, summer tires, VGRS... everything that matters when it comes to handling.

In C&D 335i was faster but they didnt like the handling... in MT they also didnt like the BMW handling either, but engine won over.

0-60 in 5.5 sec? That's more than 1 sec off pace....not forgetting the turbo cars can be tuned for even more power. Of course 0-60 is not everything, but knowing you have the reserve is something!
