DIY - 2IS Takeda intake on 3IS
#16
i personally didnt pay much attention to notice the generated sound coming from the engine with the stock intake. And it's not an F-Sport intake. The F-Sport intake is just a short aluminum tube that replaces the stock tube which would also remove the sound generator. After really giving it some gas tonight the engine feels like it's breathing better. And from the stock design its no wonder...looks like a lot of air lost going towards the generator to make a fake noise. I get a true growl with the takeda setup. It now has a deep V8 sound...friends and bystanders approved. This is a must swap IMHO.

Not quite right...anything that is an air attention grabber between the filter and the throttle body (MAF excluded) is an ABSOLUTE opportunity for loss of air. Any air that could've gone straight to the TB, but didnt, is loss of air. My second picture shows where the air escapes...

Just got around to installing mine this morning...definitely makes the car louder, feels stronger but no idea on real world change. The one hose that had you had to make to make fit is a pain in the ***. Since there is no lip for the clip to grab onto the hose would just pull off on its own. I ended up taking a couple zips ties through the clip and wrapped it around the intake itself in order to hold the hose on. This should get by until I can get in and buy an o-ring adapter. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Just finished installing the GReddy intake in my ride. Great DIY thread!
It sounds incredible when I punch it

two, nice job! I'm glad the DIY can be a reference regardless of brand. Happy modding.
