Worth upgrading to new IS?
I currently own an 07 IS350 with 34,500 miles (original owner). I am thinking about trading it in for the new IS 350 F Sport. I already have a S2000 for a purely fun to drive car. I thought about just buying another IS, but being a single graduate student, it seems way too impractical to own 3 cars in a condo. For those that upgraded to the 3rd generation, do you think it is worth it if I already have a fun to drive car? Btw I have not test drove the new IS.

You should check out the value of the car now vs. the value a couple more years with more mileage - you might be in a sweet spot right now to get the maximum value for your 07 - plus ya want a new car, right?

There is not much of a difference with the 3rd gen from the 2nd gen besides looks of the car. Engine and drive train setup is pretty much the same, pretty sure its all going to be almost the same interior feel minus a few interior changes. So it is really if you want to spend the extra money for the same car.
The only way I would say get it is if you are getting a good deal for your car for a 3rd gen F sport or IS-F for pretty cheap. Thats the ONLY way i would say its worth it. Other than that, save your $$. Or at least wait until the 3rd gen becomes a few years old.

.....I can tell you dont own a 3IS...
Get a new one. I had a 2013 that I traded for a 14. WAY BETTER car. Sure the engine might be the same but everything else is a big upgrade plus you can get a RED interior!!!.
Now in your case since you have another car to drive around I would definitely NOT trade in your car unless you dont really care about losing money. Sell it on the private market. You will get WAY more for it then what the dealer will offer you.

When is trading a (perfectly good) car ever "worth it"? Let's face it, we do it to feed our undying desire to own something new and different every so often and for some this itch comes every 2 or so years...

Yup. Im already planning my next car after the IS. I think I want a Porsche Cayenne GTS since it will be easier to get the kids in and out of.

have some originality. Get the lincoln MKZ hybrid for cheaper.
you know that cookie cutter IS owner is probably going to be a wannabe edm tiesto-mickey mouse swedish cheese maffia fan and posts pics of boba and food they eat on facebook. It's the same cookie cutter clones. Be original for once.

Then we'll see, the RC perhaps for the IS in a year or two
Off topic, but if the NX is too small, noticeably smaller than a RAV4 or the size of the (dreaded) pudgy and jacked-up rear Buick Encore, deal's off and I may actually consider for the first time ever, a German vehicle since it has been making the top in JD Power alongside Lexus in recent years - yup Porsche, and my eye is on the new small brother to the Cayenne, the upcoming Macan.
Going back to the original poster, if you can afford to get the 3IS and you have that insatiable hunger for a new car, you can't go wrong in getting it!
