look at the key you will notice a slightly discolored part at the top. Grasp it and pull it away from the body of the key, pull it straight back as if you are pulling the key apart It will slide off and reveal a CR2412 battery.

Same here my part number was 89904-53511, by the way the FCC ID on this and my other keys don't match. It didn't matter I just ordered the smart key that matched my vin and it programmed in about 45 seconds.

I ordered it here
https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/
Just enter your vin number and they will order you up the right one from Lexus. My part number was 89904-53511 for a 2014 IS350 F Sport AWD
Their live chat was decent too, however don't expect to get anyone who knows what you want to do with the key.
They have an option to order a precut key insert if they let you do it... just do it and save the trip to the lock smith. It's cheaper to order a blank and have the lock smith cut it but only by about $20.
They refused to ship me a precut key. Online chat guy didn't believe me that I owned the car I think... I guess he talked to my wife and she told him how shady I am.
So I ordered this blank
https://www.ebay.com/itm/163586849248?fits=Make%3ALexus&epid=672734563&hash=item26168939e0:g:dTcAAOSwrmRcEO0L
and had my local locksmith cut it to match my other keys. This takes all of 5 minutes and worked perfectly. Don't waste your time going to the dealership they will either over charge you or jack up your blank. Go to a good lock smith
http://thelocksmithcenter.com/
My key card came with a completely dead battery.
Its a CR2412 Battery and they die rather fast so just order 5 of them off amazon at the same time you order the key card so you can program immediately.
Installing TIS Techstream on a 64bit laptop is a little annoying however this guy has figured that out for you.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73034
Do you already have an OBDII cable and TIS Techstream? If not you can get one off Ebay it costs about 15.99
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VCI-Dia...-/272287898450
To do EVERY THING including flash the key it took me about 10 minutes. To actually flash the key takes about 45 seconds.
Or you can pay the dealership about $95 to do the flash for you. Make sure your dealership is staffed with smart people

I ordered the a brand new key, brought it to my dealer and it programmed easily through techstream.
The FCCID on my two original lexus key fobs are HYQ14FBA and the FCCID on my wallet key is HYQ14CBB and the part number i ordered was 89904-53511. So NO, the FCCID do not have to match. That is because the FCCID for my fob has 2 frequencies 312.1MHz and 314.35MHz and the wallet key had a lower range of 312.1MHz and 314.35MHz. Seeing that both were within range convinced me that at least from a signal transmission standpoint it was within the range. I am not sure about used keys and how those would program as i read that it might require a immobilizer reset. The programming of a used key is a separate topic and is not what i am covering here.
The FCCID website search i used is - https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid
Again, i am just sharing my experience since i found very limited information online and here with regards to my case where the VIN filtered out the wallet key and my dealer was saying that it was not an option and i got it to work. There is no guarantee that you will get yours to work. This is just a data point!

In my experience talking to the dealership about getting a card key or making it work is an exercise in futility. If it was not literally looking them right in the face they didn't have the imagination to think it was possible. I won't tell you how many local dealerships told me the card key was incompatible. It works, just find a dealership to sell it to you, program it yourself and have fun. Everything you need to know is above in my in post or those above mine.

So how much was this total is you don't have everything? Literally just got back from the local dealer from having a spare key made. The charged us $430 to cut and program 1 spare key...
#117
card key. $235
batteries. $18
cable and tis $16
Blank key. $25
Key cut. $35
gas to locksmith. $5
_____________________________
$334 for everything if you already have a laptop
$15 cheap win xp netbook
_______________
$349 call it $350. I make ~$80 an hour so add in my labor
$80
_______________
$430
looks like someone at the dealership did the math. Unless its ~430 for the fob and key not the card key. The fob is about $105 at my locksmith and that's with the programming and emergency key cut.
Don't forget that you can get the card key pretty cheap as low as $212 and your time is free to you and you probably already have a laptop so its much cheaper to just do it yourself and you get to know your car a little more intimately.

Just wanted to post in here, mainly to say thank you and my experience. I'm mainly a lurker and just search for hours before posting. Recently bought an IS350 FSport after having an 01 IS300 (traded in years ago, but im back now). I bought the key card and blank (havent gotten it cut yet), but i also bought the techstream software and cable on ebay and decide to give it a whirl. I was able to install it on my Win 10 64-bit laptop with minor issues tbh. Version 10.30.029.
After getting the install working, getting the car connected, and finding where to start the key pairing, the key pairing took no more than 5 minutes. I was also able to get rid of the seatbelt chime which drives me crazy. I do wear my seatbelt 100% of the time, but i will take it off when i get into my works garage for example to badge in, i dont need it yelling at me while i find a spot.
So again, thank you to Manchild for the step in the right direction.

Any time man, and thank you for the shout out. I'm glad someone benefited from my post. I am loving my card key especially after work when I go out with friends with VWs and Audis and they have those massive keys that just don't fit into work pants. My card key puts those pocket monstrosities to shame.
Remember to get extra 2412 batteries.
Anyone local to the tri states who wants to take a ride I'll program your card key for you. It's probably not worth the ride though just buy a cable off ebay. I also shut off that annoying seat belt chime.

Bump great thread.
I'd like one too. Easier to carry around for sure. How much is programming from lexus once you get it?
