Black Pearl Emblem Installation DIY (Front & Rear)
#62
I’d like to replace my front “L” emblem with a Black Pearl emblem tonight, but can’t figure out how to remove the cover above the grille under the hood. How do I remove these screw caps without breaking them? Please advise. Thanks!

Wow! Can't believe how easily the cover came off!
But once I got behind the front "L" emblem, I couldn't figure out how to release it.
I released the bottom of it, but couldn't unscrew the two prongs at the top.
Are they screws or bolts? They aren't scored and don't have a shape to turn; only round!?
Please advise!

With regard to my last post above, I’m specifically asking how to remove the emblem on the car at the areas circled in yellow in the picture attached (the picture is not of the emblem on the car, but the replacement Black Pearl emblem, obviously not yet installed). Please advise. Thanks.

Hey there,
I'm the one that started this thread a while back and when it comes to those sliver round prongs, they were hard to take off for me as well. It took a while to pop them out but while doing so it broke the two black tabs where the prongs go. I didn't mind that the OEM "L" front emblem is now broken from the two tabs that hold it but then again I was not planing on going back to the OEM emblems anyways. I only recommend taking your time and take a small flat head screwdriver and try to pop the two silver round prongs out.

Hmm; okay; thanks!
Just feel that while it seems difficult there might be a very simple, straightforward way, as is the case with removal of many Toyota / Lexus parts.
So to confirm, the two circular prongs at the top of the original emblem when installed on the car simply pop off and just have to be pryed off little by little? So there's no screws anywhere that hold the emblm to the grill?
Otherwise, I'm not sure of what tabs you're referring to, as I don't see any; I only see the one large one at the bottom…
Thanks again!

The two circular prongs at the top of the original emblem are the only things holding the emblem. As you can see on my picture i posted you can see the two parts that are broken do to those silver circular prongs.

Egh; not sure now; may forego even trying the Sewell front emblem; not happy with hairline scratches / scuffs, albeit minimal.
Can anyone recommend another source for Black Pearl emblems?
Thanks!
