Default DLR's

Do any of you ride around without your DLR's on?

These things should last forever, right? I'm not gonna burn them out having them on all the time am I?

I had the DLRs on for twelve years and 150,000 miles on my BME 3 series, my last car. The original bulbs were still working when I sold the car. So, no worries.

Numerous studies worldwide since the 1970's offer evidence for the significant safety enhancement provided by DRL's. So, they're worth it as well

I run them all the time. They may not last forever, but I think the life of an LED bulb is substantual. Something like 25K to 50K hours.

Awesome, thanks. I noticed that they weren't on the other day when I pulled behind somebody. And it got me to thinking about whether I should keep them on all the time.

what are DLR'S....or you guys mean DRL's ?

If its the DRL's were talking about, I loving driving around with my LED's DRL's on. Even at night I drive around with just them on. Lol

LOL! Yeah, OP meant DRL's. Funny how the mind works. Blew right past that after several reads and only saw it after you posted.

And you run yours at night without headlights? They are bright! And for style running neck and neck with the folks over at Audi in my opinion!

Default DRL's only?

Do turning on the DRL's also run your Parker's on? I can't figure out the setting for DRL'S's only

No, the DRL's have their own ON/OFF switch which is independent of your regular lights. When the stalk setting is set with DRL's on, only the DRL's are illuminated UNLESS your lights are on. I think this is true whether your lights are fully on, on just the parking lights. Sorry, I don't have the car with me to confirm.

I don't believe that's correct. The switch has four positions:

DRL Off
AUTO
Parking Lights
Headlights

There is no independent DRL On switch position. You have to have the switch in AUTO, Parking, or Headlights for the DRLs to come on. The only way you can have only the DRLs on is to have the switch in AUTO, during daylight. At least this is how it is for the US version.

Default Tried again

The car only has a DRL-OFF tab. If I want the DRL's on the parking lights have to be on. I can't ONLY have the DRL's on. Is that the way it should be or is there a way to make it that way

You can have only the DRLs on if the switch is in AUTO and there is enough ambient light to prevent the auto feature from turning the rest of the lights on.

Default I think I figured it out

I was confused, because when I start my car, the DRL's don't turn on. Manual says they should but mine don't. They turn on when I get out of P and its set on AUTO

The owner's manual is not so great in its description of the lighting. Your DRLs come on when your parking brake is released, and stay on until you either turn the switch to DRL Off, or turn off the ignition.
