to OP, i know what you mean. the seats are comfy at times, but other times, its not. for me, it's usually dependent on two factors: 1) the type of clothes are wear when i sit in the seat, and 2) the time of day i sit in the seat. when i'm in normal street clothes, they feel great! but when i wear my work clothes, dress shirt tucked in pants w/ belt and sometimes a tie, i feel so restricted and uncomfy! the worst days are when i wear my work clothes and have to drive home for 1.25 hours in the evening in traffic~! i feel like i adjust my seat 50% of the time, every time i step in the car. wish it had a lumbar support that could be raised vertically!

I think the seats are pretty comfortable for the most part, with the exception of the vertically challenged lumbar adjustment. I have back problems courtesy of the good ol' military, so I need lumbar support. Forget about sitting in the passenger seat, I feel like I am sinking in backwards! I have to use a portable lumbar pillow if I sit passenger. It is my wifes car, so I dont use it much.

Went to dealer, seems I'm not the only that has had this seat issue. They said 200 lbs guys are more likely to bottom out and feel discomfort. So I sat in an ISF with much more firm seats, and drove it. Needless to say I now own a rocket ship

Didn't stay with the ISF, it was used with 50k miles for same price as new IS350. Kept the new car and took it to car upholstery shop. They installed extra padding for me and now the seat is much more comfortable for me.

Does that interfere with the ventilated seats? Or do you not have those? Does the ventilation system reside on top of the cushioning?

No problem with the heat or ventilated seats. The air flow comes in near the shoulders and out on the thighs.
