Removal of the panel below the steering wheel?
Hi, All-
I wanted to know if anyone had a walkthrough for the removal of the panel below the steering wheel on a 3IS. Thanks in advance!

I've done this before on my car to add felt tape to the hood release bracket, which was rattling.
This is how to remove it:
1) Slide the drivers seat all the way back, and the steering wheel all the way up to improve access.
2) The lowest panel is held on by two screws and a few clips. Remove two phillips head screws, and gently pull the panel down, feeling for the resistance points where the clips are. Support the panel around these points, and pull downward gently to disengage the clips. I can't remember if the footwell light is clipped into this panel, but it might be, so be on the lookout for wires.
-----2.1) You will see the hood release lever is attached to the panel by a white clip. This white clip was the source of a very obnoxious rattle in my car - I removed it, wrapped it in felt tape, and reinstalled it snugly.
3) The panel above this (with ODO button, etc) is clipped in. I didn't remove this panel completely... Open the door and pop off the side panel. Then grab the panel edge on the left side through the opening which was covered by the side panel, and put fingers alongside the steering column on the left side. Tug to pop the left side clip, and tug the panel on the right side by grasping it through the steering column hole.
That's as far as I've taken things apart, hope that helps.
