Remote start for navi vehicles !!!!

Maybe it's because no one can believe Lexus messed up on something that's available on cars half the cost! Lexus also didn't state this to buyers who were buying their cars and these customers believed that this option was available.

They will but it will shut off just the same as the factory remote start when you open the door to the car.
Like I said, they are emulating as the factory Remote Start. They cannot do it the other way because the body ecus in the car are looking for the key transmitter for authentication to start the other way. This is how it is currently with all the other Lexus out in the market, i.e. 2014 GS350 if you look at the installation manual and what I confirmed talking over with my friend at Directed Electronics, so this will probably be the same case when they look over the 2014 ISx50. In fact I am thinking that their current interface module and firmware for the GS may work for our IS. I starting going through the install manual for the GS and seeing if the connector and wires are there in same location for our IS but just haven't had time to finish looking for everything.

I don't mind if the car turns off when I open the door. My previous car was a 2008 Acura RDX tech package and I got the Acura remote start. The only thing that remote start did was turn the engine on. All the instruments in the cabin, ie: heated seats, windshield defogger, etc was not turned on. Plus when you hit the unlock button, as it was not a keyless vehicle, the vehicle turned off.
So what I am trying to say is, if Lexus can mimic what Acura did by just having an autostart that warms up the engine even, so that when I get to my car, I can turn on the heat manually, I will be okay with that, as that is what I am used too from my previous vehicle.

Had dealer install remote start last week. Very convenient to use on key fob. Also said I could have opted, for more money of course, to install res +. This is on a '13 GS. I think I recall seeing that it was an Audiovox product.

We had this installed on my wife's 2013 Venza Limited. (Nav, loaded). Works great and we have had no issues.
My 2010 and 2013 Camaros both had this as factory installed. It works flawlessly and does not shut off when I open the door.
Strange that this isn't standard on a Lexus.

I have one thrown in with my purchase. When I talked to the dealer, they install their own, but they are typically aftermarket units that get approved by Lexus (one isn't approved yet). I'd prefer an OEM solution, so hopefully, this can happen.
For those that have the Lexus remote start, do you have to carry two fobs?

However, the 2015 IS model due in late August will have it built in standard on all IS's....this same system will also be on the all new NX and RC models due in the fall
