Keep my 3IS 350 or lease fully loaded BMW 335i

Gentlemen, just wanted to let you know I am NOT yet selling my car nor an F Sport exhaust, I have around 4 weeks to think. I will put on a classified if I decide to go with bimmer.

I traded a 07 335i sedan in for my 3IS. I drove the new 335i sedan and my friend's new 428i and I can honestly say other than the engine I like everything about the Lexus better. Better steering, handling, technology, interior and exterior IMO. And the seats are just the bee's knee's in the Lexus. I always like BMW's sport seats but after the Lexus the BMW's felt like a park bench.

The truth is you'll always be drooling over other cars, no matter what you drive. That's just human nature. The trick is to know how to stop and enjoy what you got, unless you really can't enjoy it. With a bmw, once you're used to it, you gonna start wanting the new m3/m4 when that's out. The only thing they got over lexus, as others have said, is the engine. The rest is just outdated and boring, and those seats are just plain junk unless you get an m3/m5. I don't think you'll be happy with the bmw as I made the same kind of move from a lexus only to come back to lexus once again. I get bored of my car from time to time now, but I do realize that's a normal feeling. Once I get a new mod, I'm back to being excited for a while. And i've driven many cars since I got my IS, and all of them felt more exciting only up to the point when I get back into my car. Like you said, you drove your IS after the bmw and felt excited. I felt the same way after driving an S4, the cts-v, and so on. They only attract you because they are different from what you're used to. Ideally it would be best if you could rent a car for a few months because that's all you gonna need with the bmw before you want to get a lexus again.

Gentlemen, here is my story. I visited my local bmw dealership and they offered me a pretty good deal leasing '14 bmw 335i in M Sport Trim. As a matter of fact I sat down with them and custom ordered it. MSRP is $59,750. As you can see this bimmer is fully loaded. I recall checking all the boxes. It will have driver assistance features, HUD, luxury package, full leather, adaptive suspension, Harman Kardon etc. I negotiated down the price to the point where 36 months with 15K per year lease came out to be $680/month. This is less than I pay for my 3IS. I know that most of you would say that it is because I purchased the Lexus so the lease would be a lot lower and I would agree with that. The thing is I only keep my cars around three years.
Now here comes the contradiction to my ubiquitous and sometimes illogical (this time it looks more logical though) preference German sedans over Japanese counterparts. After I custom ordered 335i and made a deposit (refundable in CA) I decided to test drive the bimmer just for sake of it. The bimmer was closer to the specs that I ordered (M Sport, adaptive suspension, RWD etc) and I liked it a lot. Tons of sweet torque and most importantly the power comes very early. Then something unbelievable happened. When I sat back to my car and started driving it home I decided to take some twisty roads. Damn.... I enjoyed driving so much my lexus and I started appreciating it a lot more after I drove bimmer. Even though 3IS does not have that much torque but it has that planted feeling with very little body roll that makes driving hard so much fun. And the power after 4-5K RPM is awesome in lexus. The intake sound coupled with F-Sport exhaust and all that oh my now I am really confused. Oh yeah almost forgot, these super soft and comfy F-Sport seats. Nothing like that in competition. This is in my mind the most comfortable seats ever. Sooooo soft and comfy.
Anyway, I am just completely perplexed now. If I just put the F-Sport or Greddy intake and hope that my luster toward german sedans would go away. Please help to cure my addiction

BMW has had steering misfires before. When the E46 first came out, there were many complaints about the steering being too light. Within a couple of years, BMW addressed the problem. Even though the steering was light, you could at least feel what your front tires were doing. Also, don't forget the crappy OEM run-flat tires that BMW is in love with.

The motor in the 335i is superb--tons of torque down low (where most people need it), which is one of the reasons most Bimmers are a blast to drive. Super smooth drivetrain as well. But, the F30 has lost its mojo in a key area, which sent me without hesitation to Lexus: steering. It's so bad, I'm surprised no one has brought it up. The steering in the 2012+ 3-series is horrible--completely numb on-center. BMW used to make cars with telepathic hydraulic steering. If you want to find out how good BMW steering used to be, test drive an X1 x-drive with the 335 engine, as it still uses a hydraulic unit. The steering in my F-Sport is exponentially better (so is the steering in my Mustang, which also uses an electronic unit).

I just got rid of my 2013 F30 335i xdrive for my IS350 F-Sport. Aside from the low end torque and the sound of the inline 6 cylinder engine in the 335i the BMW has nothing on the IS. I had several reliability problems with my 335i, as well. I hated the stupid Efficient Dynamics system that is forced on the driver, as well. Aside from that I couldn't get past the constant carbon spraying out of the exhaust and sticking to the rear of the white car (common trait and not removable with just soap and water), the interior was blah, and though iDrive on the surface seems great, just trying to find the simplest settings in that maze of menus was ridiculous. It took the BMW dealership 9 hours to figure out how to reprogram my rear driver's side window to correctly "auto-up." I had heard people had nightmarish experiences with their BMW's and also about the complicated and unreliable features but never had experienced it until recently.
I am back to Lexus and will never own another BMW car. I still have a BMW motorcycle. Knocking on wood that doesn't start having issues, too.
