Default annoying rattling sound

Hello,

Has anyone experience this annoying rattling sound on their IS.

I narrowed it down to the plastic piece in the center console. The glossy black piece next to where the drive stick is.

here is a video.

I bought the car with 10 miles and i took it right back for this. They took it in and tried to fix it, but it still did nothing to it.

I can camoflauge the sound when Im listening to music, but without any music, it drives me crazy.

I bought my car 2 weeks ago this Wednesday.. after like 6 days it started doing it... started annoying me and is the ONLY complaint I have with my car.. the one and only... My solution is to turn the music up. Fortunately I live in South Florida where the roads are smooth as silk.. the only time is when I drive over a not flat surface. The video shows the roads you drive on are bumpy so that would really annoy me. Cure = turn up the music.. FSport is ideal to bump the music

So it's the plastic that's rubbing against something that makes that noise?
Does every car have this same problem?

it is more of cracking, creaking kinda noise (definitely not a rattle). Mostly happens on bumps, sudden braking, acceleration, turns etc. So basically that plastic parts on the center console are rubbing each other. I have that problem too and I am assuming it is widespread as it is a design flaw not a defect. Will spraying silicone on the key areas mitigate this issue?

The issue is plastic rubbing on plastic. When I first took it for this issue. I believe they sprayed that area with something to keep the plastics from rubbing. But it is still doing it.

I moved to Dallas from Miami and I do miss the smooth flat roads. Streets here are concrete making it bumpy.

I spoke to my sales rep and they are going to check it out again. I will keep you guys updated

And like fsportjc said. My only complaint. Other than that. I'm in love with my car

I'm getting it to, since new. I haven't tried to tackle it, but generally people use felt tape to cover such places where plastic rubs on plastic. Just need to find which pieces are the culprit.

i have the same problem! i didnt know it was coming from the console though. i keep thinking it was something under my car that was making the rattling sounds. it happens every time i drive over a bump..which could be annoying. i was going to bring it into the dealership sometime next week to see if they could do something about it but it doesn't seem like they would be too helpful now

Search the forum. It seems it's the cable for the emergency brake, and easily remedied.

Happy to hear it's solved.
Are you referring to the whole part that covers the center console (that extends from the front of the shift **** to the armrest)?
