IS 250 F Sport vs. IS 350 F Sport Which one would you choose and Why?

IS350 F-Sport.. but it's still not a car that I cannot wait on (patience is a virtue).. two things would make this car over the top/perfect for me/a class leader:
1) Offer ALL the options possible on the F-Sport model regardless of the market (let the CONSUMER pick what he/she wants and pay for it on their own at least as an "option").
2) Introduce a better engine - most will agree that the engine is the limiting factor on this car. It's not only super outdated, but I'm horribly disappointed with the HP/Torque to MPG ratio.
Fix these two things and it will outsell any direct competitor (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc.) Sadly, I don't see either of these two things happening drastically soon (if ever).
G'luck with your decision,

I'm going for the 350 F Sport in Ultra White. Preferably with just the F sport and maybe navigation package. I wen to truecar and the lowest I got was 40K. Hopefully its accurate. I will be financing for two reasons: 1. Next gen will be out by when I finish paying the car off. 2. I like keeping my cars and the IS, is the only car on my list.
Any help with getting a good deal will be appreciated

the only reason one would pick an IS250 over IS350 is because of $$$, plain and simple. there's no other reason out there except $$$ can justify purchasing an IS250 over IS350.
i don't need that much hp: oh yes you do
it's my daily commute car i want something more fuel efficient: i've owned both, my current IS350 gets exactly if not better mileage than my previous IS250 under same driving condition/habits
insurance: about the same

BUT, could most people who spend 42K on a 250 be able to afford 46K for a 350? Sure they can, but perhaps they choose to save their money for something more meaningful to them since these folks, like I, do not value or need the extra power. For those who do, the 350 F-Sport is an excellent value proposition, far better than the 250 F-Sport as I stated earlier.

Of course it's because of the $$$ and if we generalize as you did, then same reason why some 350 owners have not gone for a GS, ISF, or a 335i?

If i was buying, i would go for the 250. Dont need the extra 100 hp. Plus you see here the the demographic. Car enthusiasts like power, a lot of them buy the 350. General public 250 for sure. 350s even the 2IS 350 is rare as an IS F. Never see em.

I bought an is 250 once (2nd gen), and everytime i saw a 350 on the road, I was jealous and angry at myself that I didn't spend a bit more to get one. I would not make that mistake again, at least not if I still cared about cars more than just a means of transportation. You having even created this thread shows that you want a 350, just not sure if it's worth the extra money. The only way you will know is to drive them both back to back, and if you don't think the extra power is worth it, then get a 250 by all means. Drive a 250, then a 350, then the 250 again, and if you don't immediately say "wow, what a difference", then the 250 is good enough for you. I wish there were a 450 if anything. I'd get that without a second thought over my 350. or a 550...It's true, car enthusiasts do want the extra hp whereas the general folk are content with the 250.

I don't think it was your or anybody's intention, but you can't really generalize like that across different classes of cars, ie, "I didn't buy an S Class because I couldn't afford it". This class, especially, attracts a certain kind of driver that doesn't want a larger car - they want something smaller thtat's quick, stylish, and fun to drive with some luxury in mind. The IS-F is still sporting the old body style and chassis, so that's another reason some of us with 350's aren't rockin' a V8.

IMO, spending the extra $4k for an additional 100 naturally-aspirated horsepower is a performance bargain. If you're more a cruiser type driver, the IS250 should be adequate. Just be sure that you don't change your mind later down the road as you won't be able to get the same dollar-to-power ratio modifying your 250 as you would if you had bought the 350 in the first place.
I've seen this dilemma countless times on the 2IS forums and I anticipate it will repeat itself with this generation as well (For as long as the 2.5L and 3.5L engines continue to be carried over).
Typical thread starter:
"Q: How can I make my 250 faster? A: Trade your car in for a 350".
