3IS - Poor Voice Recognition?

I've had great success with voice recognition in my IS. I haven't used it a lot for addresses (I usually send those to the car from my phone or iPad), but when I do, it seems to work. Common commands I use are:
Launch Bing
Launch Pandora
Bluetooth Audio
Sirius XM
Cancel Route
Warmer
Cooler
Show Forecast
In Bing searches, I've searched for things like "Kings Teriyaki" and "Redhook Brewery" without any issues. However, it could not recognize "Scuttlebutt Brewing" so I ended up using Destination Assist for that one.

and i didnt notice there's Bing built into the car. Does the car require a data connection in order for Bing to search?

You can also send them to your car from your phone, by going into the Lexus Enform app. Once in the app, click on the Bing icon. You can then pull up addresses and/or businesses. There's a button then to send them to the car.
These features are incredibly handy. If I am planning a trip or running errands after work, I can send them all to the car before heading out.
As for Bing in the car, it will work as long as you are running your Lexus Enform app on your phone. It can be accessed through the Lexus Apps folder, or through the voice commands.
Hope this helps.

You can send addresses to your car from your iPad or computer by logging in through lexusdrivers.com. Once in there, go to eDestination and you can load and manage addresses, and send them to your car. Then you start the car and go to navigation, then points of interest, eDestinations, and click "download".

You're welcome. I am not sure what support and requirements there are for the Canadian models.

Flat out horrible in my car. Glad I don't need it because its nothing but frustration for me. I can use it to say "Call Soandso" just fine, but getting it to recognize an address via voice recognition is pointless. I even tried the full address (#### Street, City, State).
Find Stumbling Steer brewery - Pardon?
Find #### Street, City, State - Pardon?
Find #### Street Blvd NE, City, State - Pardon?
Find Shell - Pardon?
Find Chevron - Pardon?
You trolling me? - Pardon?
$#@%$#%$# - Pardon?
Do you ever not say pardon? - Pardon?
If you were in jail what would you want? - Pardon!
You got 1 right. Hurray for you! - Pardon?

The navigation voice recognition really sucks! I did the voice training and read the manual, but I am so tired of hearing "Pardon", as well - I just use Google Maps on my Galaxy 7 cellphone. It always understands me and goes right where I want it to go...now if they would just find an app to connect to the nav screen for Android, it would be perfect. Other than that, I love my new RX.

I hit the button and said "Play Brooks and Dunn", and the car responded with "Playing The Who" WTF?
I have no accent and spoke clearly , tried 3 different times.
I will use SIRI from now on, much more accurate and less frustrating.

Tried this and variations of - didn't work unfortunately. The voice recognition is only good for calling XYZ, or basic commands like "find gas station"

Common problems and solutions...
First press of the talk/speech button begins her instructions
Easiest is to simply "say what you see" in writing
Quick second press when you know what to say shuts her down
SilentWish - on the left of the screen that appears when while
she is speaking is an button to defeat voice prompts
Do not speak until she is "listening" Press button twice or wait
First word you say is often critical, "Dial..., Call... Find...Delete..."
If she misses it you are sure to be pardoned
Quote address numbers same as a phone number, digit by digit
Twenty two thirty seven will not work when 2 - 2 - 3 - 7 will
Avoid "N/E/S/W" descriptors with the street name even if it is
critical, She will attempt to find "North Street" Say only the basic
street name and she will later show you the choices available
Microphone is in the ceiling, do not speak to the steering wheel...
Check under Menu/Settings/Voice for Voice Training (Recent models)
Officially you are training her but in reality the student is teaching you!
