Sounds like a non rolling code garage door, super simple pairing. A rolling code is meant for security purposes. By pressing the overhead button on the motor it sends out a signal. Typically though if this doesn't work with the homelink, the garage motor (newer) has more securities so a repeater kit is necessary and allows compatibility
