Just trying to understand/learn here : The overall diameter is supposed to be same as stock (or close), so isn't the problem the width of the wheel rather than its diameter?

 

First my wheels in the rear are 20x10.5 +45 same as every ones vossen wheels, the car is just not lowered so as far as "stance" is concerned and how far it is "poking out" it is the same as everyone else prior to lowering the car i just took the pictures at realistic angles.

As ar as getting FHP to file a claim, it wasn't an issue, I placed a call and they met me off location for safety and wrote the report instantly. They also informed me to file a claim about half the time the claims are payed partially by half, and the rest between nothing and in full. . . Based on the small size of my claim and that I will have an attorney file it I am confident I will get something and I am going to fix it regardless so 50% of something is better then 100% of nothing

 

. Im seeing it the other way around, I believe your oversize wheel caused the damage and not state of FL. There goes FL tax payer's money. For example, you lower your car and go over a speed bump. The speed bump damages your under carriage and you try to sue the state.

 

Sucks to see the damage. But I think the ET number and tire size play a critical role here more than the J and wheel inch. Looking at your pictures It seems like the tire hit the fender not the wheel themselves.

I'm guessing you're running more than 275/35 on the 10.5J? Since 20" brings your tire even closer to the fender you will need even thinner tires to clear them. I say the tires were too thick for your 20x10.5 with ET45 to clear when suspension is compressed.

Sure everyone has the same setup wheel but doesn't mean everyones running the exact same tire profile. You should always check if fender clears your setup when you go wider and lower. And no offence, you already know the tires rub, yet you didn't bother find out how they are rubbing prior to the damage. Sorry but you shouldve seen this coming.

Hopefully it's not too costly to fix.

 

I'm running a 275/30 and the tire didnt touch it the rim did if you saw it in person you would see the damage on the wheel. . . Car is fixed now, claim submitted, will probably have a check paying me back within two weeks

 

Still not sure why Lexus decided to taper this fenders inward from the factory....

But yes this will keep happening for those who run wheels & tires that stick out past the fender metal..
