@EvilJoker What tire you running in the front? It would be nice to do a comparison to see why yours clears and his rubs.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires look like they have a stiffer sidewall when compared to the Pilot Super Sports that they replaced. What have you guys noticed when slightly stretching them? Anyone have pics of 225/40/18 on 18x8.5 rims?

Tire & Wheel size
Hey guys, I just got a 2016 Lexus IS 300 F sport. Was looking for new wheels. I have a couple in mind but I'm unsure with the wheel & tire size fitting. Currently I just have stock with square set up. I would still like to keep the square set up. THe specs of the wheels I'm looking at are 18x9.5 +38mm, 114.3x5. Would these fit the lexus? And If they do, what size tires would I need? I currently have 225/40/18. A friend told me that I should go up to 245 because the wheels are wider. But then I'm afraid if I go up to 245 in the front, that it would rub. What do you guys think? LMk, much appreciated.

For your rim specs, they would work 'ok' on the rear. If you plan to lower the vehicle it may or may not be an issue depending how low you go.
For the front the 9.5 will be too wide. For the least amount of fitment hassle, an 8.5 would be best, but with some planning a 9.0 could fit easily too.
Btw...for a 9.5 inch rim you'd be looking at a 255 minimum.

@EvilJoker @taktiks Here are you tires side by side...the Sumitomo (on the left) looks like its a mere half inch wider (Tread Width), but it was enough to rub.
Ironic that the overall diameters are the same, but the revolutions are different.

Your car looks great. I’m on stock suspension and I installed nice misano with your tire setup and the rears rubbed. Now I’m on 19x8.5 +35 w/ 245/35/19 and 19x9.5 +45 w/ 255/30/19 and I don’t rub but really worried I hit a huge dip at high speed and rub badly as it’s so close. How did you manage to not rub with such wide rear tires and lowered?
But IS250 or non FSport may be slightly different
