Running RSR Downs on 2016 is200t f-sport RWD with RCF/GSF Bushings
And I bought Gram Lights 57DRs
F: 18x8.5 +37
R: 18x95 +38
just wondering what's going to be the best tire size for me?
I'm for sure running 255/35/18 for the rear, but can't decide on the front. Should I go 225/40/18, 235/35/18, or 235/40/18? Going to run Firehawk Indy 500s.
If you're going to run 255/35/18 in the rear, then to keep the front tire circumference the same, you will be running a 225/40/18. If you put 235/35 or 235/40 then the front tires are actually going to be bigger.
I have almost the same spec rims and run 235/40/18 and 265/35/18. I also have the RSR Downs and RCF/GSF bushings...on an AWD.

Honestly, thanks so much for your help Sasnuke. I'll try 225/40 out, I believe RSR downs on a RWD drops the car a little more than the AWD

You are correct, the RSR Downs will drop the RWD a little more.
This will add a little more natural negative Camber and tuck the wheels just a little more.
I bought new rims for my lexus is base 2016 atomic silver three month ago, the borbet Y matt titan. It s not very nice the color of the rim because it is the same of the car. That is why I bought new rims 3 days ago, I m going to receive my new...... Japan racing.......JR.......28... black machine in few weeks.

I keep the borbet Y 17" for the winter tire.
I'll post picture of the new rims in a couple of weeks.
You may want to double check that front tire size...i think you meant 225/40.
Interesting you want narrower in the front at 7.5 inches...I don't think anyone has done that yet since the IS comes with 8 inch wide wheels in the front when you get the 18 inch rims.

went with the specs you suggested on indy 500s, thanks!
i was wondering if a bigger tire size could have prevented the lip of the rim being exposed
I think bigger your tire is more you protect your tire.
Do you know this website, it is very easy to see how much that protrude (I don't know if it's the good word) from the tire: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

i was wondering if a bigger tire size could have prevented the lip of the rim being exposed? Not really. I have the 235/40/18 (on 18x8.5) and 265/35/18 (on 18x9.5) Indy's on my car and my wife still curbed 3 wheels...so it doesn't add any more protection.
In theory is sounds reasonable that if you put a bigger tire the sidewall will overhang the edge of the rim to protect it.
In reality, to do that you would need to put a REALLY wide tire to accomplish that. Likely wider than is recommended for the rim.
Some tire manufacturers have "rim protector" built into their tires...I'm sure they have their own patented name for it. It's extra rubber on the sidewall nearest to the rim to protect it, to a degree, from curbs.
Unfortunately there's not a lot of them out there, so not a lot to choose from.
The original tires on the IS, Bridgestone Turanza, were a pretty crappy tire, but, they did have the rim guard built in.
Check out this short article: https://www.oponeo.co.uk/blog/tyre-rim-protector (there's a chart at the end)
The rim protector may not be available on every tire from the manufacturers that do offer it, and it's usually a little more expensive.
photoshoot coming soon, photos will be on my instagram @ajayrobles to keep up with my car🙏🏼
