Rear: 19x10.5 et 38
Car is currently lowered and settled on RSR downs

I spoke with a Ferrada Rep and also a Vibe Motorsports rep, both which seemed pretty knowledgeable. I insisted on the 19x10.5 et 38 instead of the 19x9.5 et 40 for a deeper concave look. When i asked the reps what tire size i should run in the back without any rubbing/fender work, they told me that I shouldn't run into any issues with 265/30/19 on RSR downs and that they've had customers done that setup too. But most people on this forum seem to only go with a 265 if the ET is 40+ and anything less than a ET40 would go with a 255 or even 245.

Horever Ive seen a few people on this forum with Coilovers/rsr super downs run
19x9.5 et 38 255/30/19 or 265/30/19
19x9.5 et 31 255/30/19 or 265/30/19
Since people who are lower and have a similar/more aggressive offset run a 265, Would that mean my setup should be fine too?

and with RSR downs I've seen plenty of people run velgens/vossens with
19x10.5 et 45 265/30/19 or 275/30/19
19x10 et 42 265/30/19
It seems to me that there is still some space to play with when it comes to the rear wheel and fender, and 7mm (the difference in offset) don't seem like a big difference.

So i guess my question is should i go with the recommendation the reps gave me and get the 265/30/19 or go with what i believe would seem to be the safer option and get a 255/30/19 for the rear? Hard to make a decision when every here runs a 265 only for et40+ while I'm assuming people who know the most about the wheels is telling me 265 is perfect.

I showed them the pic below and asked for the same setup, and they said it was the 19x10.5 et 38 with a 265/30/19 setup. Not sure about suspension tho but looks like a moderate drop like the RSR downs to me
I think the first thing to clarify is that the wheel offset has no bearing on the tire size.
The rim diameter, and especially width of the rim, has a direct effect on the tire size.
It's true that if the offset isn't exactly ideal, you can adjust the tire size slightly to make a little more clearance, but even then you are usually looking at only going one size smaller.

Realistically, a 265/30/19 is too small of a tire for a 10.5 inch wide rim...regardless of offset.
The 265 is very popular because most run a 9.5 in the rear. A 265/30/19 is meant to fit a rim that is between 19X9.0 and 19X10.0 in size.
For a 19X10.5, you should be using a 275/30/19 at least...with an ideal tire being 285/30/19.
With a 19X10.5 et 38 and a 285/30/19, you will likely rub on the fender. You might be ok with a 275, but that's a solid maybe.
The 265 would be too small, and technically unsafe.

Default Ruff r2 20"

Hi Guys,

I'm looking into purchasing some Ruff R2 20". I would be doing 20 x 8.5 on the front and 20 x 10 on the rear. Tires would be 245 30-20 front and 275 30-20 rear.

My question is, would you thing this would have a gap between the tire and the fender? Should I still drop it with RSR down, just don't want to rub or roll the fender as this is a lease.

Greatly appreciate it !

Welcome Juan!
Another one joining the 20" club!
Depending on the offset, the front should fit just fine, the rear might be an issue...once again, depending on the offset.
You'll see from my build thread link in my signature below that I have 20X8.5 +35 offset all around with 235/30/20, and I'm dropped on RSR Downs.
The rear I have no issues, but there's a couple pics in the thread that show the fitment.
The front, at full lock to the right, will rub on the vent on the inner fender...which really is not an issue (how often, long, and fast does anyone drive at full lock...unless you're making a U-turn, and even then)
The 275 on the rear is going to be pretty beastly. I've seen only a few successfully run a 275 with 19" rims, and I think there was a little fear of rubbing when fully loaded with passengers (and dropped on whatever spring).
Unfortunately rolling the rear fender isn't possible as it's already factory rolled, so the maximum clearance possible, without pulling the fender, is already provided to you.
If it was possible to drop the 20X10 to 20X9.5, then you could go with a 265 tire, you would stand a better chance of a nice fitment without rubbing, even with the RSR Downs. Once again, all comes down to offset as well....you'd probably want a +40 or more at that point.

Hi Sasnuke,

That cleared up a lot !

The set you have looks great man, I'm hoping we can do some magic on the 275 tire since i want that staggered look without the need of dropping it since I would be returning it within 2 years lol

Thank you again!

I think you can still safely fit a 265 on that 20X10 as well. Check the tire manufacturer specs.

Default Fitment on Air advice wanted

I stumbled across a deal for Volks G25's.
19x9.5+42 Fronts
19x10.5+22 Rears

I'm still pretty clueless with fitment and I havent found much for guys on air. I've read through the entire post and haven't found enough information from other members wheels and their offsets to give me enough confidence to pull the trigger on this deal.
I'm sure I could fit the fronts and bring them out with spacers, but I'm curious if I could fit the rears. I'm going to be on air, and i'm willing to buy camber arms, but i'm not sure if it's possibly to pull/roll fenders on it. I'm more concerned about it fitting period when i'm aired out.
I'm debating whether or not to hop on this deal, or just wait for something that'll fit better without me having to do fender work and get camber arms
I'm also pretty clueless with tire sizing too

Hi All, currently with a bone stock 2017 IS200T and am very interested in getting 18 inch rims and a slight lowering of the stance (will look at some springs for a mild drop).

As far as rims are concerned, I am very keen on a set of Gram Lights 57xtreme Face 2 (Love the Evasive motorsports pic with the red studs!). Is there a definitive width and offset I should pick (assuming I run the staggered 225/40s front and 255/35s rear)?

The front rims would actually fit the rear nicely.
The current rear has an offset that is too low...it's going to stick out quite noticeably.

Do you want them to have the same offset like stock or you want them to fit somewhat flush to the fender?

Thanks for responding! Well, I'm inclined to have the wheels more flush to the fender but not to the extent that I will have rubbing issues with the fenders (with, lets say, RSR half downs). I would also prefer to have a staggered setup.

This is what I could find for wheel specs.

Vossen ftw lowered on rsr super downs so iffy driving everywhere wheels hit the fender liner every little bump need to go either rsr downs or jump straight into coils

I went with 18x8.5 +35 in the front & 18x9.5 +45 in the rear but I did get wider tires (235 & 265). The stock tires already looked stretched with the OEM wheels so they will be stretched even more on the wider wheels.
