F Sport rear wheel mounted on front...damage!
Pretty disappointed right now...
Just got back from a major retailer tire shop, they mounted one of the rear wheels on the front which caused the wheel to scrape on the caliper when they tried to pull the car out. That caused a huge gash on back of the wheel.
They are replacing the wheel on Thursday but is it safe to drive in the mean time? Is it possible that the wheel has structural damage?
There seems to be no visible damage to the caliper besides the sharp edge being...well not sharp. Is there anything I need to look for when i inspect the caliper again tonight?
Thanks

Uhghg. That sucks. I once had a BMW dealer do that to my 335i. You'd think that a BMW dealer would be familiar with staggered wheels. Ever since that event, I always make it a point to point out the staggered setup to any shop who is working on my car.
To answer your question, I'd be shocked if enough force was applied to the wheel to cause structural damage.

There could be a slight shift or misalignment with the caliper or suspension that scraped hard against the wheels. I'd get that checked out for sure as that's the bigger safety concern IMO than the scraped wheel.

the installer should have immediately seen that the wheel was not sitting against the rotor properly. sorry to hear about this.
it should be safe to run on those wheels, assuming he only moved a few inches until he realized the mistake. the damage should be superficial but i would still have the shop cover the damages! OEM wheels are pretty strong, stronger than a lot of aftermarket wheels in fact, even the name brand wheel companies!

I have cooled down now... the damage on the caliper is minimal. The wheel should be OK but that scratch is something that the dealer will a take note off if anything...
