hi all i was thinking of getting the is but i struggle with the 22mpg or 23 combined i am thinking that if i am spending 45k that for the next 6 years i want a car that averages almost 30 and runs on regular unleaded. anyone else feel the same way?

 

I feel the same way. I leased a is 250 awd and the gas mileage is horrible. I average around 18mpg, I can't wait until the turbo charged engine. But overall all I still love it.

 

I'm sure the turbo 4 is going to be a good engine, but I still prefer a v6. I wouldn't pay $45,000for a 4 cylinder. I don't care much about the mpg of the v6, since it'll be smoother and quieter than thw 4,which take priority for me

 

The NX 200t FWD is EPA rated at 22/28 MPG and takes premium.

Expect the IS with a few more ponies (though 400 lbs less weight) to have overall just slightly better mileage but if 30 MPG combined is expected, don't hold your breath. I'll guesstimate 25/31 MPG RWD and 1 MPG less for the AWD.

 

For me as others have mentioned, smoothness is priority in a luxury sedan. I also would definitely get AWD again. Also turbo 4s generally need premium anyhow. I'd want at least the 300hp I got in a car like this as well

 

I get 30 MPG and switch between eco, normal and sport mode alot and do a lot of Fwy driving for work so ok with 6 cyl. I do however miss the pull and feel of Turbo as my last 3 cars were all turbo which made it fun to drive

 

If it's going to be anything like the turbo 4 in the 328i, I'd wait. The 328i can hang with the IS350 and completely smoke a 250. The low-end torque makes for immediate power at any RPM and a really wide powerband, combined with much better fuel economy. People tend to fixate on the HP number and forget about torque.

 

I own IS250 F Sport and, to be honest, waiting for IS200t. Lexus sells only IS250, 250 F Sport and non-F Sport IS300h in Russia. You can not buy IS350. The useless Camry-engined hybrid is not an option for those who seek for a sport sedan. 250 F Sport is not a race car either, but it's the most dynamic IS we can buy. On the other hand, the V6 is smooth, quiet, sounds better than 4s... and reliable like hell ) The real fuel consumption of 10-11 l /100 km is more than adequate for dead Moscow traffic, no complaints about that. But there is no reasonable way to boost the performance, 10-20 hp from intake and exhaust mods will not make any noticeable difference. So twin-scrolled 238 hp 2.0 turbo with 350 Nm of torque starting from 1650 rpm looks like an option. The whole car will be definitely lighter, so the dynamics is expected to be on par with 328i. And typical for modern turbo 4s appetite under 10 l / 100 km would be nice too. Hope Toyota have not forgotten how to build proper turbos ))
