And it really shouldn't. It should go to neutral and then engage first when stopped.
Autos never go into "neutral".

If you have Aftermarket Exhaust, that's the Back fire POP when car downshift from gear 4-3-2, but if you're not talking about 1 POP noise from exhaust, well i have that issue with my IS350 too, i think downshift from 3 to 1 car jumped a bit and it fells like a bad brake pad and rotor, someone just mentioned up there mine is AWD

I've had this issue before my after market exhaust was installed. What concerns me the "mental clunk" sound that comes with it. As someone posted earlier in the thread, it sounds like the same clunk noise when you shift to park.

I don't know about this clunk, but when I shift to park, the car jerks forward and the shift **** "slides" into place on P. This is even with the handbrake on.

A sound comes from the shift **** settling into place (by itself). It's weird and concerning at the same time.

that's absolutely normal. the shift **** is physically connected to the transmission. depending on the load and position of the parking pawl at the time the car settles, you may feel/see/hear a slight click of the shifter. Just about every car does this that has a similar set up (which is 95% of cars)

you'll get it in cars that use an electronic shifter, too. but you just won't feel it in the physical shifter you place your hand on.

I am going in for an oil change soon and will have Lexus take a look at it. Will keep you guys posted.

I have a feeling they will give me the standard response "transmission seems fine, here is your bill" lol

This actually happened to me this morning when shifting from P to D, it didn't fully slide into place at first and kinda went "clunk" after drive actually engaged.
