just became a fan of 3IS's handling
this is the first time i get to drive a 3IS loaner for an extended period of time (dealer has to replace oil pan of my '09 IS350). they gave me a base IS250, and compare to my IS350 which has BC coilovers and rear f sport sway bar, the base 3IS feels more planted on the road than the 2IS. i find it more confident to take on a corner in the base 3IS than my modified IS350.

It handles very well for most of us i.e. on public roads and when you take to twisties. I heard however than on the track 3IS, even in F Sport trim, pushes a lot (understeers) and it makes it cumbersome on the track. Primarily due to a heavy 3.5L engine hanging on the front axle. Also one big item that 3IS is missing is limited slip diff (LSD). True enthusiasts believe that a car without LSD is not a sports car.
I personally very rarely take the car to its limits. Within its limits it handles awesome.

8 speed tranny found on 3IS F sport RWD is said to be the same tranny as in RCF. Assuming the tranny on RCF doesn't overheat so the main reason 3IS's tranny being overheated on the track is mainly because of the absence of a transmission oil cooler (that of course assumes that RCF does have tranny oil cooler). Is that correct?

The 3IS handling is fantastic. I was never super impressed with the 2IS handling (though I loved the car anyway), but I was immediately sold after driving the 3IS.
Just to be clear, the 8 speed is offered on all IS350 RWD models, not just the F Sport.
