Default Question about 19" wheels

Have been browsing over this forum and came across a post claiming 19" wheels will look funny if the car is not lowered? When browsing some pics of 3is with 19" it seems it may be true, some just look funky with the large space/gap between the tires and car.

On my previous cars no lowering was necessary and everything looked fine. Have never lowered a car before and am not sure how big of a deal it is to do, or costly. Is there maybe another solution or must the car be lowered to not look bad?

lowering a car is not that complicated depending on your suspension configuration, requires basic knowledge but not for the novice. requires basic tools and a ball joint spreader, you can find lots of DIY here on this site, or take it to a shop not very costly anywhere 3 to 500 range then you need an alignment but I would wait a bit for the springs to settle before the alignment......good luck

Doesn't look too bad depending which wheel. You can do a moderate drop, if you're worried. Most 3is guys use RSR down springs. The drop is perfect IMO. There should be my shops around your area that can do it for $120+.

I don't think 19" wheels is Funny with stock springs. As I know there's no difference between Russian and USA version of new IS, so what I mean, look at this picture and you'll see it looks rather good. It's from russia. Only one advice, choose wide wheels for the back (for example J10) and about J8,5 for the front as on the picture

by J8.5, J10, he's referring to the width of the rim, fronts 8.5, rears 10, but keep in mind that just because you get a set of staggered rims with these widths that things will fit perfectly on your car. pay attention to the offset too. too low of an offset, with wide widths, your rims may be sticking out beyond the fenders.

that pic is on a non-f sport though right? because my understanding is f-sport is lowered slightly so the gap would be smaller. I'm getting my wheels soon i'll take a pic, i wouldn't be lowering.

Yes, it's not f-sport. And of course don't forget about offset.

The stock f sport wheels are 18", but for some reason they look a little smaller on this car than how typical 18" wheels normally appear. Not sure why that is.

These are some wheels I like, but something looks funny about the front wheel to me, maybe it is not wide enough?
