Recently went looking for a license plate frame and discovered that the one I have is starting at $219-$400 on Ebay (starting prices). This was on my MGB from the 70's. Yes, this has nothing to do with OP's question, but I thought it was just an interesting piece of trivia. Apparently, they're a huge collectors item.
Got to take those eBay asking prices with a rock of salt.
Search the sold eBay listings to get a real feel for what they are selling for. Example: I’ve been cleaning out an attic, and found an old toy of mine. Checked eBay to see what I could sell it for…the only active listing is asking $19,600!!!! Checked the sold listings, see $150 to $750.
These are pricey but if you’re looking for old school USA made, thick chrome plated solid stainless frames then these are it. I have the black pearl frames and they are seriously legit.
I'm still waiting for my plate. Trying to decide what color is going to look best with this. Car is white. I will be deleting the White Sox logo and the White Sox name
