15,000 Mile Service Necessary?
Anything special with the 15,000 Mile Service?
Must I visit my dealer? Any idea what dealers charge?
Maintenance book doesn’t seem to state oil change is necessary...
Thanks.

My Dealer quoted $179 for the !5,000 Service. Oil change NOT required.
Mostly checking & topping off fluids. Does include tire rotation, new wiper blades and key fob battery.
If you can handle the work yourself, Dealer will reset your Service message N/C.

Lexus provides the 5k and 10k services as complimentary. Some folks have been able to get additional services included in their deals, but it's not the norm. Services beyond 10k are typically out of pocket expenses.

you know, I never did any of the dealer "minor" services. on my G1 is300, I only did the 75k major and racked up 220k+ miles. that's where they changed out all the fluids except for radiator, but did top that off if needed. changed the timing belt, water pump and spark plugs at 100k and car was great! of course I did the oil changes, break pad changes, rotor turning and tire rotations myself or outside the dealer. even the cabin filter, I bought at almost half the price when I went to a Toyota parts dept. but now that oil changes are suggested at every 10k, I don't think i'll be doing every 5k after the free up to 10k service from the dealer.

My dealer normally charges $334 (+50% more than normal), but it was free for me due to a complication I had when I initially purchased my vehicle. Honestly, it's just a mid-point inspection, that you can do at any shop.
Edmunds has some notes on the 15k service for the GS

Other than tire rotation (can't for is 350 fsport ), topping fluids and changing remote control key battery there is not much to do. My dealer about 300 miles away recommended I wait till 20k miles to service. I did a maintenance reset myself.

Off topic, I have local Toyota delearship in Tallahassee that has a claimed lexus certified tech. Would you trust them to service your IS? They only do maintenance work but no warranty work. closest lexus dealership is in Jacksonville about 180 miles I believe.

I know I would....The engine and tranny is fairly used in other Toyota products so for regular maintenance, I was told by my Lexus dealer that the local Toyota dealer could do it. For what its worth anyway
