Just got an email from Lexus:
Save $1,000 on the IS right now.
Hello azmojo,
As a loyal customer, we'd like to thank you with this incredible certificate,* good toward the purchase or lease of the Lexus of your choice. Now at last, you can turn fantasy into fact.
So take advantage of this certificate today. Or regret it tomorrow.
It contains a certificate good for $1000 off the purchase or lease of a new Lexus.
Good timing for me, I ordered a new one last month (not here yet of course). I don't know if I can use this though, it says the car must be in dealer stock.
I love the threat at the end... you will regret not using this certificate!

To be honest, $1000 is easy enough to negotiate off any purchase or lease offer anyway. It's just their way of enticing you to come in and buy. I highly doubt they would let you use it on a sale that is already committed.

I don't think the money comes out of the dealer's pocket. If this is the case, there is no reason for the dealer not to pass it along in additional savings. The idea is still for Lexus to move units.

There was also an $850 rebate at the time, so coupled with a $5900 discount and the $1k Lexus Finance certificate, the selling price was $41k for an IS350 with an msrp just shy of $49k. We were pretty happy with the deal - wife loves the car.
