2014 IS 350 FSport interior paint peel off
The past couple weeks has been pretty hot here in Northern Va. I noticed that the surface next to my heated seat button had some weird texture. The bottom part eventually peel off. I took it to the dealer and they said it is not cause by the heated button. They said something spill or something that magnify from the windshield might cause this. I don't have anything on my windshield and drink spill. If something spill, why would it form like a square edge, and nothing happen to the heated button. It just peel of the side and the bottom, but not the button.
We just switch from BMW last year to Lexus 2014 IS, and 2015 RX. I am so disjointed that the surface peel off after just one year. Does this happen to any lexus driver here? Dealer told me it will cost 850$ to fix this.

Well, the temperature is about 90F. I would think a 2014 Lexus can handle this. I had the similar problem with my 2008 Infinity FX35. The dashboard had some bubbles, due to the heat. Infinity replaced the dashboard for me even the warranty expired. Lexus dealer refused to fix it after I bought the brand new car for one year. The 2015 RX is seating in my garage so it is safe.

I don't believe that area is painted, but rather just molded black plastic.
It looks to me like something did get spilled on it and sat dormant until perhaps activated by the heat. I am an engineer and work quite a bit on plastics and can't think of anything other than contaminant spilled on it that could do that. Could something have been spilled on it prior to your owning it? Was it a special order or did it sit on the lot and get a few test drives? Did the dealer use a tough chemical trying to clean a spot there?
I wish you could luck, because you may be facing an uphill battle.

If something spill on it, why it created a square shape? And why nothing happen to the button? Just the side and botton get the texture. I only drink water in the bottle in my car. Could water do this to plastic? What is the other forum that you suggest me to post? Thanks a lot for the suggestion.

I could be wrong, but given my experience, that's what it looks like to me. I can't come up with another explanation.
As for the forum, it looks like a mod moved it for you. You had it in the 2nd generation (2006-2013) IS forum, when your IS is a third generation model (2014+).

A wipe mark shouldn't leave it square like that. I just can't see how nothing happen to the button if there was some sort of spill. I see, that forum. Thanks.

The Lexus dealer told me that they will have a Lexus representative call me the next day, which was supposed to be June 4. I then have to take my car back, for the Lexus representative to look. The Lexus representative hasn't call me yet. I am still waiting. I'll update what they say when they decide to call me for appointment. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

looks like you either spilled something or it was melted possibly from the inside.
What do you use to clean your interior? i noticed that armor-all would sometimes pill off the paint.
