Reason an IS250 was purchased over Audi A3/A4
Hello all,
For those that considered an Audi A3 or A4.. why did you pass on the Audi to purchase the IS250 (not comparing the Audi S4 vs IS350 or F-type.. just the basic IS250 vs Audi A4 or A3)??
I'm looking at both makes currently and would like to know what swung you towards the Lexus.

I've owned a B6 A4 for almost 11 years. Bought the car with 15k miles on the clock, within the ten years of owner ship i've prob put 46k miles on the car. Loved the car, hated the little mechanical issues that the car would often have. Those parts were expensive. Sold the b6, was going to get a b8 avant, decided to get the 3is instead due to longevity and reliabilty and resale value. Plan to keep car 10+ years.

1st: A3 should NOT be compared with an IS250... It is way smaller.
Now my opinion:
German cars are a big hassle after a while of owning one. When I moved out here in Florida (my parents live here too), I was car shopping and my dad was telling me as he helped to get a car thats VIN Number started with a J (Japan). Japan is known for reliable cars. My dad had an LS400 for 16 years before it got totaled by a drunk driver last year (RIP). That thing was a gas guzzler yes but it was such a reliable car. My dad told me he only went for services and he has his 3rd Lexus right now (GS350 F). Even Matt from TheSmokingTire said his first car was an LS400 and Lexus is known for good reliability. I checked when I bought my 2008 2IS AWD in 2011 and I am thinking about upgrading to the 2014 IS250 F Sport. I would definitely go with a Lexus but if it were a lease, go with Audi.

Hope this helps in your future purchase!!!

For me personally, the current Audi lineup is bland. I don't even like the S7. R8 is the only Audi I find aesthetically appealing. Then it comes down to planning on keeping the car 5+ years. I wouldn't trust an Audi outside of warranty. On top of that I never had any problems with my 2IS.

The first, the total lack of reliability kills Audi as a longtermer. The second, an outdated FWD A4 makes me smile for the asked price (AWD is MORE expensive in Russia). And third, I didn't want to by the A3 = Golf with the four rings and softer plastic, that costs as much as Lexus.

That would be me. For the money there are so many more attractive cars than the S7. Just my opinion though.

i was really close to buying the A4. however the lack of power was a turnoff. the interior was beautiful, especially with the tons of options and packages i was looking at. Maintenance and depreciation was also a big factor. I have experience with German cars (switched from a Mercedes CLS 500) and their maintenance issues and the big $$ it takes to repair them. So happy I went with lexus
