Conflicted
Hey guys. I have owned an IS300 for about 4 years now and love my car to death. I love the 2JZ and its smoothness. I also own an MK3 Supra and use it as a weekend car. As you can see my family has a bias for 6 cylinder RWD vehicles. However I'm looking to replace it soon. I'm conflicted between the 250 F-Sport or the 200t. What is the probability of Lexus bringing the 200t to the US? Also, would I be better off with the 250 for its V6 refinement? I honestly don't mind the extra power from the 200t, just care for refinement. I'm also likely to mod it so would the 250 have a better advantage? Or do you think the mod community for the 200t will be just as big? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The mod community will be nill to zero for either the 250 or the 200t. The 2JZ was mod friendly, but Toyota/Lexus has the ECU's locked tight for the new gens. You will have to settle with exhaust, intake and headers for minimal gains, maximum noise.

If it turns out to be unavailable for the Canadian market, it is simply a matter of poor demand (unfortunately).

Echoing AndyL's post, IS product availability for the US is not yet confirmed.
IS RWD sales in Canada are historically very low and mostly made up of the 250 RWD so was a naturally slow death of the 350 RWD. I would be really surprised if this will be axed in the US.
As to the OP, the 2L Turbo 4 is very smooth, quiet, and refined on par with the 2.5L V6. You have nothing to worry about here. Six months already, I'm enjoying the Turbo in my NX for the NVH, power and fuel economy, but not for the initial lag. If throttle response and engine/exhaust note is important to you, the V6 wins here.
In the end, if you don't care for the extra power and fuel economy, go for a 250 at this time since you'll get a great deal versus the "new" IS 200t.
