Thanks everyone. I was thinking of trying CarMax. I might do that this weekend. I thought about listing on CL but I'm a bit unsure about safety when meeting with folks. (as a single female). I'd rather lose another $2-3K for the ease and safety of trading it in.

I may wait around to see what the 2016's look like. I'd hate to pull the trigger and then something come out in 2016 that I wish I would have waited for.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Single female huh..... Lol. The 2016 are going to look identical. At least on the exterior

Yea I would just trade in, even if you lose 2-3k. I just sold a car on craigslist for 14k, it almost wasn't worth it. And for a 30k ~ish plus car, good luck finding a buyer.

Rc350 is cool and all, but it is a coupe, if that matters.

I second this. Anything above the mid teens on Craigs are usually wildly overpriced cars that should be 10K.

When you were looking for your car did you consider craigs an option.....others probably wouldn't either.

Beyond the personal safety aspect, Id be more worried about the fraud aspect. Not many buyers will have that kid of money if cash and i would never touch a check of ANY KIND from a stranger no matter what bank it looks like its from.

I bought my car off craigslist off a female. She had the car for about 6 months. Her and her husband needed to upgrade to a bigger car. She was going to trade in, sold on craigs for more thsn the trade in value. I bought the car at a price that i couldnt refuse. Bottom line, we both as seller and buyer both benefitted. She sold for 2000 more than she was quoted to trade in, i bought the car 2000 less than all other cars i was looking for in the market at that time.

those are the deals everyone looks for! but when I am selling a car for anything over 10k most of the people that come to look have to figure out financing and/or tries to make partial payments using different methods, etc... makes the deal a hassle. Selling a motorcycle for a few grand is easy to do because more buyers can come up with that amount in cash, which is nice. The ease of trading in for an expensive car is tempting - especially if you get tax incentive of only paying the difference in value between old and new car. it might wash out some of the lower trade value vs. private party value difference.

YMMV, but for the simplicity of it all trading is worth some money to me for the convenience factor, Id be willing to "lose" a bit of money but others would spend their time trying to deal on their own.

Good job - that's the way it works out sometimes. When the buyer/seller have the confidence to trust each other, it makes things nice.

I would sell the is250 and get myself a nice weekend sports car and keep the 03 accord; however, if you want an all around car and only one car I would say the upgrade to the 350 should be good
