What will happen to IS250 value after turbo
Looking to hear from some of the older guys who have been in the car game for a long time and who have seen something like this happen before. Is the value of the 250 with the V6 about to absolutely plummet or will the introduction of the turbo have minimal bearing on the value of the 250s. While I love my car, I realize I will no have it forever and might need to start calculating my next move financially if I am about to get crushed on trade-in value because my current engine will no longer be around.

As much as I think the IS200t will be more desirable, at the end of the day you're in a Lexus, its gonna hold value. Granted I have no factual basis for this, but the majority of Lexus buyers I'd argue couldn't care less about performance. So the Is250 is likely more than enough for most buyers. I dont personally believe it'll depreciate at any rate higher than it would have otherwise. You could argue that the IS250 is more desirable since its is a tried and proven engine, where as the IS200t is new technology and could potentially have risks, especially in the 1st year.

I wouldn't expect much of an impact, but perhaps you could look up what happened to the value of the GS when it had its engine swap. As I recall (someone please correct me if I have my years wrong), the 3rd gen GS debuted in 2005 as the GS300. For 2006, it was upgraded to the GS350 with the 3.5 liter V6.
Not exactly the same, but could give you an idea.

Same fear!!
I just not too long ago purchased my 2015 IS250 F-Sport in January. I don't really care for the performance or else I would've gotten an IS350, or better yet an STI for $10k less.
I was also very concern about the value of my car ever since I've heard of the turbo engine with more HP and better gas mileage. (Should've waited a bit longer! ) Anyways, I do plan to keep my car for a long time. Just don't know how the market will hold up for my car due to its older engine model.
I just hope my car's value won't drop dramatically if I do plan to sell it 5-7 years from now. I just feel sorry for myself and any recent IS250 owners. We've got the bad end of the bargain my friends.

ddvette9, enjoy your 250. Trading it back now will be a bigger hit financially than a (possibly) slight decrease in value compared to the 200t years from now.
Like some have mentioned, not everyone is a fan of turbos and I for one, having both engines, prefer the 2.5L V6's instant butter smooth torquey response and engine note.

My previous car was a 2012 VW GTI 2.0 turbo and tbh I did not like the engine very much, alot of problems like carbon buildup early in the cars life. The 250 v6 is very smooth and quite and I actually enjoy the ride alot.
