Turn off your car with the door open - Alarm Beeping
So I have been trying to figure out why when I turn off the car with the driver door opened, the car will beep continuously until I close the door again. Is it trying to tell me to remember the key? This was the case in my 2010 IS250 too... so its not something that is new.. its just now that I started wondering.
Any of you guys know why?
Thanks!

No idea... but I'll tell you one thing you shouldn't do. Do not turn off the car while your door is closed and window down. As soon as you open the door, the car starts honking like crazy. At least, that's what happened to me.

The beeping is because the ignition cannot "lock" when the door is open. It is similar to a conventional ignition when you leave the key in and turn off the engine. You will notice if you press the rubber door sensor button in the frame, the steering column will make an mechanical whirring sound which is the the steering wheel locking.
All Toyota/Lexus products I've had experience the same thing. I'm not sure how the door being open has much to do with the locking the steering column though...
