Default Do i need gaskets?

Hi, for everyone who installed the JoeZ axle back exhaust onto the RWD 3is, I was wondering if you needed to use gaskets. I recent purchased a used axle back and the seller told me that gaskets were not needed and to directly screw the exhaust onto the factory mid pipe.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

So should I reuse the factory gaskets because I was not provided with any gaskets when I bought the exhaust?

I just put mine on yesterday morning and you re-use the little cone shaped gaskets.

Make sure you have the bolts if you bought it used since it doesn't re-use the stock hardware.

Also, if you do not that a 14 and 15 mm ratcheting wrench you are going to HATE the install. the top side bolt on each side only turns about an 1/8 of a turn at most before you contact something. You also cant get and impact on them because of the angel.

Total install time was 40 minutes from getting the car up on ramps to putting the cleaned tools away.

If you haven't fought with exhaust hangers use a pick of something on the outside so as you push against the backside of the hanger it slides over the hump on the exhaust more easily

i forgot to mention depending on the ramps used you might have to offset them to the outside a little AND use a 2x8 as a pre ramp. My ramps were so tall they would hit the bumper first so i used a 10" long 2x8 and that was fine but when they were centered to the tires then the hit the stock exhuast.

Also, if you havent dont exhuast before get a bungee cord and hand it by the connectors as a dummy set of hands

Order of process that always works for me is:

Break bolts lose but leave on.
Get the rubber hangers over the humps but leave on.
remove of of the two bolts
remove the horizontal hanger
remove the other bolt to now lower the exhuast (now resting on your bungee or strap)
slide the exhaust forward and off of the two rear hangers

Great to hear you finally got your exhaust! Definitely update us on how you like it once you put it in.

the thing with gaskets is that they tell you to use new ones every time you have to uninstall parts of the exhaust. do you have to? no. should you? probably. it's a cheap disposable piece that when you're down there and everything is opened up, you might as well change them out.

you can think of this similar to when you change an alternator or water pump,. you might as well change out the serpentine belt while you're there
