Default Winter Setup - Feedback on Continental Extreme Contact DWS06

Hello CL community,

As the winter season approaches, I am thinking of buying better tires to replace the crappy OEM Bridgestones! I was searching tires a while ago and came across the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06. People seem to like them on AWD vehicles. My guy from the shop sells them like hot cupcakes. Got my 1st oil change today and my Lexus dealership had another IS with them Continental tires that were just installed!

What's your feedback on these tires? Anyone who's bought them minds sharing his/her feedback??

Thank you,

Lexi90

I love these tires! I recently replaced the OEM's. Handling one these are amazing and you can't beat the comfort/quietness. The price is also not to bad. You won't be disappointed, although I really can't tell you how they will handle in East Coast winter weather.

Thanks for your feedback! I keep hearing the handling is amazing with these tires. I am near the point of pulling the trigger, but was waiting to see if I could buy some 19s or 20s and install Continentals on them. Don't think it will happen now, so I rather pull the trigger and spend $800-$900 for the tires now!

I am eyeballing those as well. I was going to get the Michelin Pilot A/S but then I saw the Contis. I have had great success running the DWS Extreme Contacts and now have the Eco's on my wife's car.

If you get them let me know what you think. Mid summer I will have to replace my Bridgestone as well.

Don't know about the Conti's but bought MPSS's last week. Agree about the Bridgestones....get rid of them asap. If I'd known how bad they are I'd have put new shoes on right at point of purchase. Who am I kidding? I'm too cheap to do that. But as stated the Bridgestones are really bad vs. the MPSS's.

The Continental Extreme Contact DWS are amazing. I just got them a week ago, love them. Ride changes for the best as oppose to the stock OEM tires. I love the DWS

They are a good tire but I'm not sure I would want them as my winters. I've had them on multiple cars for years but even on an Acura TSX I would still spin front drive wheels and have the back step out in certain snow conditions.

If these are a second set for winter I would stick with a true winter tire.

I had them back when I had my 07 IS awd, living in Buffalo NY and Philly PA they were good in the snow but I kept getting sidewall "tire bubbles" due to hitting pot holes at high thru-way speeds. Replaced 3 tires over a year and half

I was also thinking about that! Do I want them as my winter setup? However, I don't want to spend $$$ on winter tires and still have the OEM Bridgestones after winter is over! I think I'd be fine with the Contis for the winter...

Really? I heard something about the sidewall being so soft. The highways here in CT aren't as bad, so I don't think I'll have any issues!

+1 Had I known OEM tires were that bad, I would've invested in some good tires from day 1! I can't afford the MPSS as they cost a bit more than the Contis, but have also heard a bunch of good things about them!

I do have strictly a winter setup but want to run all seasons in the summer months just for treadwear purposes. I don't drive my car very hard.

I just had the DWS 06 installed a couple weeks ago and so far it's been great compared to the OEM Summer tires on my RWD IS350. I live in the Seattle area and it rains...ALOT. The DWS 06 has been able to handle the cold, wet, weather just fine, but I'm not sure how they would handle in snow.

I also had the Conti DWS (older model) on my previous car, a 350Z, and had ZERO complaints as an All-Season tire for the wet Pacific NW weather.
