Default Can Radar assist cruise control be upgraded to the new version via a software update?

Here's the deal:

- My friend's 2014/15 Subaru outback can FULLY stop the car and make it go again in stop and go traffic.
- Our cars can FULLY SLAM ON THE BRAKES HARD enough to have the seatbelts tighten up down to 26mph and then it beeps at you for you to take over and if you don't it then slams on the brakes again, even harder!
- The rx can and will stop the car down to 0

Why on EARTH do we get a gimped version that has a tiny period of time where the car does nothing and then try and avoid a crash after it's too late.

Why would Lexus be satisfied to let SUBARU beat them in their 2016 line up getting the best driver assist award.

If our cars have the sensors and subroutines to do a half *** job at it, how hard would it be to get Lexus to upgrade us to the FULL version.. any one else feel this way?

I just couldn't believe it this weekend when the subaru outback I was in took us down to 0mph and then started us back up! (If we were stopped for a few seconds it did need to be told to resume...but I would still prefer that to what we've got!)

haha I wish lexus can do that too.

I think their company goals are different. Subaru generally target "family safe" cars so they have all these safety features while lexus is more "luxury or Prem".

It would be nice if lexus can update it but I think the subaru might have better sensors.

I do have to say I'm in love with the car and will still be happy with it when Lexus doesn't really give one crap about what I have to say... but it just seems silly to me to have all this tech in this car and not go 100% of the distance...

It almost seems dumb to have a car that is capable of stopping itself before an accident but for a second or so it'll hesitate before fully engaging the brakes.

As far as the sensors go... the DRCC models have the one sensor that is needed, don't need anymore!
