Driver side seat cracking
Has anyone had this happen yet? My research showed some of this happening on some of the older Lexus but couldn't find any on the IS that are this new.
I plan on taking it in and hoping to have them replace under warranty. Just seems kind of odd with only 20K miles. I have never used anything other than water and a micro to clean the seats.

I just assumed it was nulxe, I am not for sure though. Bought it certified used and it did not come with the sell sheet... I have never used anything other than water. I can not speak for the previous owner.
Any idea how I can determine if it is leather or nuluxe?

a number of ways, but the easiest may be to check to see if you have wood in the car. if there are wood accents above the glove box and around all of the window switches, then the car has the luxury package. similarly, if the car has memory seats, parking assist, and an automatic telescoping steering wheel, it has the luxury package. the luxury package includes leather.

Do you park it in the sun a lot? Or outside in the cold? I never thought about using water to clean the seats, I always use wipes for car interiors (ex.

If it has the F-Sport package, it most likely is Nuluxe lol. Hopefully that doesn't make it anymore confusing.

It just seems odd that it is only happening in that one spot. Maybe excessive wear from "crawling" in and out of the car? That was my first guess.
I read in a few other post to only use water on the Nuluxe so I have stuck with that so far.

You should look at getting some type of leather conditioner ( I know it's not real leather) but it will help to keep the material from drying out and causing the cracking. It will also keep it plyable which helps prevent this.

The manual specifically says to only use a damp cloth to clean the Nuluxe as you have been doing, so I would continue just doing that (no leather wipes or conditioners). But yes, I would definitely show this to your dealership and see if they will replace the seat cover for you. Our dealership replaced a seat cover on my husband's NX because it had a crease.
I have over 18k mile on my IS and my seats still look like the day I bought them, so I think that type of wear is unusual.

Finally got around to following up with the dealer and they are replacing the cover on that seat under warranty. I guess I will pay attention to how I get in and out of the car in the future!
