IS300 vs IS350
#17
I think you're comparing AWD IS300 to RWD IS350. The MSRP is about $5k difference between similar IS300AWD and IS350 AWD cars. And the IS300 tends to have a bit more discount from MSRP.

Then you found an odd bargain. Good for you!
Pro tip, dont ever EVER!!! leave you car overnight at Larry Miller Lexus. Ask me how I know...
Left overnight. Parked OUTSIDE in the one spot in the lot with limited video coverage. No alarm set off. And take note of how all the connectors were disconnected. Do you know any common thief who won't just use cutters behind the clips and pull them apart later? Me either. Only someone who knows they're not going to get caught - and probably who will also be fixing it later. Like an employee maybe??? The repair horror story is even worse. I just don't have time to type it all. $23K in parts alone. Tried to fix with USED parts the first time. Took 6+ weeks to fix. Many rejections of **** quality work. I can't even describe adequately my distaste for LHM Lexus the managers who thought a pair of ****ing movie tickets was adequate compensation. (And my car isn't the only one that's been "hit" at that same shop.)
If they want to keep it overnight, politely decline. It is not worth the PITA of having your car ruined.
Anyway - I bought my current RX350 through a Toyota dealer who I'm friends with the owner of and I have the option of all the work being done at Toyota.

This isn't a sticky technical thread. The thread is old. Was dead. The question is answered. it's a nearly 20yr old engine, there's really nothing new under the sun for it. What exactly is it you're looking for more discussion on?
Also - if you didn't know, Larry Miller Lexus is the only Lexus dealer in Utah. If he lives in Utah, he probably is getting the service done at that dealership.

I don't even own an IS anymore. I had an IS250 and had intended to build a piggy back to spoof the sensors temporarily and run the 7th injector on an artificial "cold start" for 30 seconds to fix the carbon buildup issue, but then some bad stuff happened and I got rid of the car.
Do you have anything you'd like to add to the conversation? Are you aware of some reason that prevents an ECU swap? Some reason you wouldn't want to keep AVS with airbags? The floor is yours....
