Default Sensor in front bumper

Any one familiar with what sensors are in the front bumper? I slid out on black ice into a snow bank and it crushed in the bottom grille and as I'm clearing out the snow I noticed a sensor dangling with a broken harness that I was wondering what it was for. I have a non Fsport bumper with LED fog lights and both fog lights are operational.

As stated above, both fog lights are operational

Default B6 - Cooler (Ambient Temperature Sensor) Thermistor

Per the wiring diagram, that's the only harness that runs vertically down that side of the grille.

if it goes nowhere it could just be a outside temperature sensor for the gauge inside.
