Another sunroof issue. I had mine tilted today before I decided to open it fully. I thought I heard a click when it moved back.

When I got home and tried to close the roof panel, it was not closing because something seemed to be in the way. Upon looking up, I noticed that the expanding/opening rubber/plastic fan like piece had become detached from the glass on the left side and was just left hanging.

I just got back from lexus. Its funny you mention this because they had to replace my entire sunroof glass with the seal surrounding it. They said it had warped somehow, causing it to stick. You should definitely tell your dealer about my issue. My dealer had to call some technical advisor to get advice on how to fix the issue (corporate office?) and the technical advisors recommended replacing the entire glass/seal as they had recorded a couple of other people within the U.S.A. that had the same issue.

Report back and let us know :thumb:

P.S. Mine seems to be fixed but time will tell!

That garnish piece came off on my 2014 IS250 and had interfered with the sunroof twice before it came off. I tore it out and threw it away. The company that inspected the car when I turned it in at the end of the lease didn't even notice it.

This was so helpful because it gave me someplace to start. I use my moonroof every time I drive (unless there is a monsoon). Yesterday, my moonroof just stopped opening, but would tilt up. It was obvious that the motor was still functioning. I got my flashlight and tried to see if there was anything obvious, but nothing stuck out. I, then, tilted my moonroof up and ran my fingers along the track on the passenger side and in addition to the gooey oil, pulled out something that didn't belong and it turned out to be a little stone. I removed it and now everything is working perfectly again. So happy!! Thanks for the thread!

I noticed on my 2017, there were globs of
white lubricant somewhere, perhaps on the
tracks. I was surprised that it looked so uneven.
So this is normal?

Default I have the same issue now

Hi I have the same exact issue on my 2017 Lexus ES350, the sunroof is going down on fourth of an inch and then gets stuck unless I apply little force by pressing on it from outside then it would open and close normally.

should I just clean it the same way you did and lubricate it or I must change the glass and the rubber as well ?
