Has anyone attempted to change the color of their day time running lights? I was thinking of using a colored film to do so..red might look nice. Any thoughts/tips?

It's not worth the hassle from police. anything but stock lighting is not worth the DUI after 2 glasses of wine at dinner. Red and Blue is meant for emergency vehicles only.

I think a girl with CL name integress changed the color to yellow. You can ask her if she had any issues with the blue and red boys. However vivid makes a good point about the red color on the front.

can't have green color lights anywhere on the car. its against the law and guarantee a pull over from the cops. plus I highly doubt you want other drivers to mistaken the green as an actual green light. That goes the same for blue as well.
for the front, you can only have white/yellow/amber. no red in front.
for the back, you can only have red/yellow/amber. White is only for reverse. Technically you can't have white turn signals either.

Sorry, I should clarified, I think it was a flashing green light because I know a co-worker who is a volunteer fighter and has a green light, which he is allowed to use.
Yes, technically cannot have white turn signals either unless they came from the factory this way. If I recall correctly, there are some European cars (might of been BMW or Mercedes?) which have them?

Here are some of the CA rules. Most applies to almost all states with minor variations.

- Brake lights on vehicles newer than 1979 must be red (24603 VC). (Vehicles older than 1979 may be red or yellow.)
- Turn signal must be white or yellow to the front, red or yellow to the rear (24953 VC).
- Red lights to the front. They are illegal except on emergency vehicles (24003 VC).
- Tail lights that are too dim, washed out or show yellow, white or other colors (24600 VC).
- Illegal color of side marker lights. If present, must be yellow in the front and red in the rear (25106, 24003 VC).
