Not surprised T10 works fine for the OP as the connector is the same as T16. However, it is a surprise to see it still looks bright enough.

I have LED T16 for reverse light in my 3IS. When choosing LED for reverse light, I find due to the narrow "window" of the reverse light enclosure in 3IS, it is more ideal to use a LED light bulb which has as many SMDs in the front facing direction as possible. I had another T16 PIAA reverse LED light that I used in my previous 2IS and found it not as bright when in 3IS. So I bought another one with a different design and it works much better.

FYI, the highest lumens a reverse LED light (T16, T20, S25) could emit that I come across is 500lm which is a claim from IPF. Typically a reverse LED light (T16, T20, S25) nowadays has 150lm - 300 lm.

Again, high lumens doesn't necessarily guarantee good result due to the location of the SMDs on the light bulb. It really depends on the enclosure of the reverse light for a particular vehicle.
Mind sharing where you got that LED? I've seen it before but haven't been able to find it online to purchase.

Are you referring to the IPF one? No, I saw it in store while in Japan last year. Check my PM.

Not a bad choice considering the price as it goes down to about US$18 for 2 currently on Amazon.com

It is a 200lm T16/921 LED which Philip USA or the actual North American packaging won't tell you about it.

As always, due to competition, Japanese product packaging provides more info about this product.

I bet this is the same product albeit it is marketed under "Ultinon" as it is famous for its HIDs.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/Philips-フィリッ...3;ス+T16

The details are on individual pictures on the above page.

As a reference, 200lm/T16 is near the low end of the spectrum for this reverse light product in Japan. The latest T16 from Piaa has 230lm, and for Bellof, 300lm, for IPF, 500lm. But 200lm is sufficiently bright as a reverse light LED replacement especially from the picture, Philips seems to direct all the lights in the same direction. I had 150lm older PIAA T16 light and it was quite bright as well.

From experience, Philips HIDs are quite reliable and durable. So their LEDs should have a certain level of quality guarantee.

Question, when I originally read this thread & purchased my upgraded LED's, the above quote hadn't been posted. I ended up buying a set of T10's & wondering if I made a mistake. Are my new T10 LED's less or more bright then the OEM halogen reverse bulbs???

These are T10 LED's I purchased off Amazon:

It really depends on how much lumens your T10 can output.

An OEM wedge bulb (equivalent to T10) has about 50lm according to some product literature I read before and I have used a T10 which has 170lm despite it was a special LED from PIAA under the series Spark Moon (H-850) and I used it as a interior dome light.

On the other hand, I have used older T16 LED bulbs as reverse light with about 150lm and it is okay.

Still, there is a question about suitability . . On the Amazon web page you posted, it specifically says the LED is suitable as a position light. It is not recommend for tail, signal light, etc.

"Note: This type of LED bulb is not suitable for the following application. tails, high mount brakes, turn signals, parking lights, and/or motorcycles or vehicles w/ AC system and/or 24VDC system."

Or maybe you are okay in the sense that the wattage drawn from a T10 is lower than that from a T16.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't personally see them so that's good to know.

I would probably suggest the T10 ones here.

For what it's worth, I can guarantee the ones I posted up are A LOT brighter than OEM.

I bought this LED from Amazon ASIN: B017OYSIWQ
10pcs 12 5630 SMD LED. Color on the warm side (5000K?) instead of bright white (6000k).
Very bright for backup. Use 2 for backup. 2 for the dome lights (the center bulb for both front and back.)
The left over 6 I use on my Sienna interior.

Just installed the same LED lights purchased fromijdmtoy.com, I couldn't take any night shots since I'm actually out right now. But they're def brighter than OEM but not too bright as some of the shots posted.
